Windows 10: Superfetch and System main running at the same time with 100% disc space in task manager

Hi,

My computer was barely moving at startup, I opened task manager and Superfetch was running along with System Main. I looked into disabling Superfetch but could not find it in services. I then found out that Superfetch has been replaced with System Main in Windows 10. Why would both be running and can I turn them off without issues to my laptop/what will happen if I turn them off.

Thank you for your response with the current status of the issue.



I suggest you to check which processes is consuming the disk space in the task manager and check if it helps.

1. Right click on Taskbar.

2. Click on Task Manager.

3. Then click on Performance.

4. Click on Open Resource Monitor.

5. Then click on Disk tab.

6. Check which processes is running in the list.

Note: When we start the computer and login to it. Then at that point of time if you check for the disk space usage in the Task Manager, then the Disk Space might be at 100% active state and after few minutes later it will get reduce.

Got it. Please check if the Message Signaled Interrupt (MSI) mode is enabled on your computer. This may cause 100% disk utilization when enabled. To check and disable it, follow the steps provided in this

link.

If the issue persists, then try to disable Superfetch. Follow these steps:

• Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin), then click
  Yes.
• In the command prompt, type the following command and press Enter.

net.exe stop superfetch

3. Wait for few minutes before checking the computer's performance. You may also run a disk check. Type this command in the command prompt and hit
Enter.

chkdsk.exe /f /r

4. Type Y to confirm the disk check.

Disc space 100%

So my HP pavilion laptop has been running pretty slowly lately and i’ve been doing a bit of research - i know nothing about theses things. So i moved all my pictures/vids onto an external memory source and removed them from the laptop as the memory on
task manager was full, that helped a bit but the disc space was still at 100% all the time and would not go down. So i did a clean boot and restarted the laptop with nothing but the bare minimum enabled but STILL the disc space is at 100%, from what i gather
its not a program problem but the system? I need help this things driving me insane and its only 18 months old!!
