Windows 10: Surface 3 as virtual display, stuck at "MainPCname is about to project"

Hello,

I really searched everywhere an tried a lot of things, but I didn't manage to solve this problem..

I have a Microsoft Surface pro 3, and I would like to use it as wireless display for my Main Pc.

Surface and PC are on the same netowkr. Surface is even connected with Usb Ethernet Dongle..

PC has both wifi and ethernet.


I did enable all configurations on Surface PRO

I made sure network was Private, and I even tried totally disabling firewall on both devices..


I Add wireless display to MainPc but on surface it's stuck on:

"MainPCname is about to project"

I tried all combination of wifi ethernet connection, but nothing.


PC and Surface are windows 10 up to date. Only windows defender on both.

Surface Book 2 Won't Create Virtual Display Monitor?

On another laptop i have i am able to press win+p and select extend and the system creates a "virtual" second monitor even though there is not one physically connected. I am then able to use powerpoint in the presenter mode and with a program called AirParrot
wirelessly project the slide view to an Apple TV device while the presenter view is on the laptop. The Surface will not create this "virtual" monitor. I've read all kinds of articles on this subject of "ghost" monitors that suggest creating cables with resistors
to fool the hardware into thinking there is a second monitor attached, and short of doing that I've tried everything else suggested. I"ve updated everything that is available as far as I know. Is this a limitation or have i missed something? Thanks

Surface Pro 3 battery display stuck at 99%

• v38.10.90.0 corrects an error that may occur on a limited number of Surface Pro 3 devices where the full charge capacity of the battery is misreported to the operating system and device firmware. This update corrects the firmware component that functions
  as a "fuel gauge" so that the battery capacity is accurately reported. See Surface Pro 3 Battery FAQ for the 8/29/2016 System Firmware Update for more
  information.

And the steps to start and restart twice after the installation.

I have used my Surface Pro 3 regularly and have had a total of 5 charging cycles.

I just installed the update on my affected Surface Pro 3. What should I expect now?

After you install the update and restart your Surface Pro 3 a second time, you'll immediately be able to start using it on battery again. Over the next five charge and discharge cycles, the gauge will stabilize
as it relearns the actual battery capacity in your Surface Pro 3.

However my Surface Pro 3 battery icon still displays 99% battery life constantly and then shuts down unexpectidly without warning.

HELLO. MICROSOFT - The UPDATE did NOT work!

Is there any other resolution to this problem?

I have also completed factory resets of my device in the past as well as checking for updates to the battery drivers.

All of which have provided me no resolution to this persistent problem.

Its greatly frustrating!

Please help!

 

Using Surface Go as an external display for Surface Book 2

We understand your concern. However, could you please let us know how exactly you are trying to connect the Surface Book to Surface Go?



If both devices are on the same network, we would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to configure Surface Go as a portable Monitor and check.

1. Go to Settings in Surface Go.
   
2. Click on System.
   
3. Click on Projecting to this PC.
   
4. Select Available everywhere or
   Available everywhere on secure networks in the drop down menu under
   Windows PCs and phones to this PC when you say it’s OK.
   
5. Select First time only or
   Every time a connection is requested in the drop down menu under
   Ask to project to this PC.
   
6. Turn on the Required PIN for paring, if it is prompted.
   
7. Make sure you turn off the switch
   This PC can be discovered for projection only when it is plugged in as you will use your Surface PC as a portable display.
   
8. Then click on Yes.
   
9. Then try following steps to project display on Surface Book 2.
   
10. Click on Action Center.
    
11. Click on Connect button.
    
12. Select the name of wireless display (Surface Go).
    
13. Check the box behind Allow mouse, keyboard, touch and pen input from this device.
    
14. Then press Windows + P key and try Extend or other options and check if it is working.
