Windows 10: Surface 7 PRO/Windows 10 PRO doesn't recognize Verbatim External Slimline CD/DVD Writer device

I have a MS Surface 7 PRO running Windows 10 and it doesn't recognize my Verbatim external Slimline CD/DVD writerdevice. I plugged the device directly on my Surface 7 PRO with no luck; also plugged it on MS ducking station and no luck either.


I had an HP ProBook 4540s running Windows 8.1 about 2 years ago where Verbatim external Slimline CD/DVD writer device was working fine. As soon as I upgraded myHP ProBook 4540s to Windows 10 operating system, my Verbatim external Slimline CD/DVD writer device no longer works. It is a plug and play device and it doesn't work with Windows 10. I called Verbatim, they assured me there is nothing wrong with the device. They exchanged the device by shipping me a new Verbatim external Slimline CD/DVD writer.

I just bought Microsoft Surface 7 PRO tablet device running Windows 10 PRO O/S and it doesn't recognize my Verbatim device. Any suggestions please.

• How are you connecting the portable DVD writer to your Surface Pro?
• Is this the first time you are going to connect these two devices?
• Are you getting any error messages when you use the DVD writer to your Surface device? If you do, kindly post it here.
  
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

CD-DVD writer (originally the E: drive) not recognized after installing Windows 10 Pro.

CD-DVD writer (originally the E: drive) not recognized after installing Windows 10 Pro up from Windows 7 Pro. The second CD-DVD read only drive (F still working as drive F: Can't find drivers or? to restore the drive. Apparently Windows 10 erased driver,
etc during installation of 10. This drive is/was LightScribe, but not necessarily to be maintained as such.

Hello Jesrael,

• Through USB.
• Yes it is the first time.
• No error messages.
• Spotted it in the "Computer" as a DVD Drive and right clicked to open it and was asked which app it wanted me to open it with. Tried windows media but it could not open it.
