Windows 10: Surface Book 2 - Unexpected Shutdown - Microsoft Windows Kernel Power

Hi Microsoft,


I'm very unhappy about my Surface Book 2. I got too many times unexpected shutdown.


Pls study the copy of the error that I got from the event viewer and support me to solve this issue.

Cannot shutdown or restart windows 10 (on surface book 2)

When I try to shutdown or restart my surface book via start menu the pop up (with shutdown, restart and save energy entries) disappears and nothing happens. The only way I can turn off my device is to hold the power button for a long time.

I have also tried to shutdown windows via command line command shutdown /s as admin and I got an endless "shutting down..." screen until I turn off the device via the power button.

I have also tried to:

• install latest drivers and windows updates
• turned off fast boot option
• turned of hibernate
• search and repair windows files via sfc /scannow (nothing found)

Edit1: I found out that I can shutdown/restart the surface book normally if I unplug it from the keyboard

Hi Andre,

thank you for your support. your solution does not work. Pressing the power button for 30 seconds lets restart the surface book. Pressing Power+Volume Up does nothing but shutdown (if on) or turn on (if off). The problem still exists, I cannot turn off or
restart the surface book 2 normally.
