Windows 10: surface book USB to phono jack adapter

Hi , I took the plunge and bought a surface book but don't like where the earphone jack is on top right corner of screen . Am I able to use a USB to phono adapter ( to place the adapter in one of the USB 3.0 slots on the keyboard edge) and have any of you had experience of this set up .

Surface Book reboots rather than wake from sleep problem - Event ID 6008 and 41

As I mentioned in my original post, I normally have the Surface Book connected to a Surface Dock at my desk. I have the Surface Book set to never hibernate when plugged in. Hence it should be in a state of permanent sleep when left overnight. I usually (but
not always) find after an overnight sleep the Surface Book restarts in the morning showing the Event IDs 6008 and 41 in the Event Log at start up time.

Last night I thought I would try an experiment. I disconnected the Surface Book from the Surface Dock and connected Surface Book to the power adapter instead for the overnight sleep. This morning, no reboot! No Event IDs 6008 or 41. I will try this for a
couple of more nights to see if the behavior is consistent.

Just thought you might be interested. Is your Surface Book connected to a Surface Dock or to the Power Adapter when you experience the problem?

 

Windows Media Player

I have a DVD recorder which works well but is 12 years old and needs to be replaced: “Sony DVD Recorder model RDR-HX910”. It has a 250 GB hard disk drive now holding 150 hours of old TV shows (PAL color system) and video clips which I want to save
by copying onto a new HDD to play those videos on a video monitor. This Sony recorder has outputs of: phono jacks, Video 1.0 V p-p + Audio (L-R) 2 Vrms; also S video on 4-pin mini DIN/Y: 1 Vp-p; also Digital out optical jack/ -18 dBm; also aerial coaxial output
jack; and component video output.

My computer uses Windows 10 and Windows Media Player which is perfect for my audio system. I have a Seagate external drive with enough disk space to store all the videos but it has a USB connection.

Is any adapter available for converting the DVD recorder’s Video + Audio phono jack outputs to USB or HDMI for saving via WMP on the Seagate drive?

Or can you recommend a Media Player add-on that can do this video converting and saving and playback? I'd also consider a Media Player with a DVD recorder.
