Windows 10: Surface Keyboard keeps going into sleep, even after bluetooth power saving settings

Hi


I've bought the Surface Keyboard a week ago, and loving it, when it's not constantly going into sleep mode.

After searching far and wide on the interwebs, I've found solutions from changing bluetooth power saving settings to reconnecting the keyboard, but nothing solves the issue.


The problem is that when I'm working and using the keyboard regularly, there's no issue. But when I stop using it for more than 1 minute and start typing again, it needs a few seconds before kicking in and start inputting every keystroke at once.

Or when I'm watching Prime or Netflix and press the space bar to pause, it takes about 3 seconds before pausing, but not without making the video lag and stutter for a few seconds.


This is extremely irritating, especially considering the price and quality of the Surface Keyboard.


I'm using a custom PC with an Intel Wireless Bluetooth adapter on the MB.

Should using a USB Bluetooth Receiver solve this?

I suggest you to run the Power troubleshooter and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the methods given below and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Follow these steps to run Power troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Power.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

6. Check if issue persists.

Method 2: I suggest you to the below steps to change the settings for keyboard and check if it helps.

• Press “windows+X” and go to “control panel”.
• Click on “device and printers”.
• Right click on the “Bluetooth keyboard” and click on “properties”.
• Under “hardware tab” click on the keyboard device and go to “properties”.
• Then under “general” tab click on “change settings”.
• Click on “power management” tab and uncheck the box “allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
• Then click on “ok” and restart the computer, check if the issue persist or not.

PC will go to sleep even though the Power settings are set to Never in Windows 10.

Since the Sleep settings are set to Default, I suggest you to make changes from the
Power options settings page and check if the issue is resolved.



Change the power settings by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

  Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type
  Power options and select the top most search result.

  Click on Change when the computer sleeps
  from the left side panel of the window and select Never option from the dropdown bar under both the options.

  Click on Save Changes and check if the changes are effective.

Hi, thank you. I could restart my surface pro 4 but still could not fix the Surface Pro 4 screen not turn on after sleep. I am still looking forward to hearing more suggestions to fix the black screen after sleep.
