Windows 10: surface pro 4 cannot see desktop computer on same network

I am running windows 10 on the surface and my desktop. I recently upgrade to windows 10 on my desktop. When i was running windows 7 on the desktop my surface saw the desktop and shared files. since the upgrade my surface not longer sees the Desktop computer. It sees my printer on the network and my TV but does not see the Desktop. Help

Surface Pro 4 can not see other home network computers

My surface pro 4 is part of a home network and can be seen by other computers on the network, but the surface can't see the other computers. Homegroup is setup and works good on all computers on the network. Desktop and surface are windows 10 pro and
my older laptop is 8.1 pro. If the desktop is restarted while the surface is on, the surface will see the desktop, but the desktop will only see the surface not itself under network computers. Once the surface is restarted it no longer see the desktop.
Network discovery is turned on for all computers and all hard drives are shared. What am I missing!!!

The main causes observed so far are driver issues, so I suggest you to install and update all the drivers and see if it helps.

Download drivers and firmware for Surface

I would also suggest you to install all Windows update and check.

Follow the steps:

1. On the search bar type “Settings”.

2. Click on “Update and Security”.

3. Click on “Check for Updates”.

4. Read and accept the license terms, and then tap or click Finish if the update requires it.
