Windows 10: Surface Pro 4 Intel Iris Graphics 540 driver: How do I revert back to working version...

How does one revert back to a working version of driver?

I tried going through device manager, doing an update... Windows responds back with: "you have the most current..." Which I know. I want to use an older version PLEASE! (sorry, it's just frustrating)


I went back through the pro 4 updates and found the version that I believe worked for the Iris Graphics 540: version 21.20.16.4627.


Can anyone tell me how I can get this drive back installed?

Win 10 (SP4) Iris Pro Graphics 540 - manually set resolution?

I believe that the problem is with the Iris Graphics 540 card.

It seems that displays can only be connected to it using
DisplayPort 1.2 / eDP 1.3 which maxes out at 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz,
or using HDMI limited to the older version 1.4a which also maxes out
at 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz.

You might try to use the less-limited HDMI 2.0
by adding a DisplayPort converter that supports it.
Such converters may be bought in stores or on Internet shopping websites.

Or if possible for your computer, add/replace the video card.<br>
(Edit: The last sentence was written before I knew the post was about the Surface Pro.)

I'm having the same problem on my Core i7 Surface Pro 4.

I also tried reverting the Intel Iris Graphics 540 driver to its previous version (20.19.15.4364, from 2016/01/12). That seemed to have reduce the frequency of the BSODs, but I just had 3 today .

try this, it works for many people:


1.- Download from this site the beta zip file (win64_154012.zip), and not the exe file:

Download Beta Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40]

(for 32-bit download win32_154012.zip).

2.- Unzip the driver to C:\Windows\Temp folder.

3.- Right click on Start and choose Device Manager, Display adapters,
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.

4.- Double click to open it (or right click and choose Properties).

5.- Click on the Driver tab and then on Update Driver.

6.- On the new tab click on Browse my computer for driver software.

7.- On the new tab click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

8.- On the new tab click on Have Disk.

9.- Click on Browse and then choose Windows\Temp\win64_154012\Graphics\igdlh64.inf
(igdlh32.inf for 32-bit) and click on Open and then
OK.

10..- On the new tab where Intel (R) HD Graphics Family is showing click on
Next and let the driver to install.

11.- The new Driver Version is 20.19.15.4326 and is digitally signed.

Be aware to follow step by step all the procedure and do not try to use the wizard to update the driver directly, in many cases it won’t work.
