Windows 10: Surface Pro 4 Wifi settings not showing

Hello all! So basically, ive had my surface for a good amount of time. Ive encountered problems but most of the time I can sort them out with usual help however for once I cant


Whenever I try to connect to a network, or attempt to view what networks are available, nothing shows up. It looks something like this;



And when i go to settings, nothing shows up either.



Ive looked on other people who had the same problem, practically untill I went cross eyed. None of them worked. Im considering just flat out reseting my computer. Any help?

Hello there,

After rattling my brains over what it may be I found my own solution.

I did the registry changes suggested on the internet - no fix

I did the driver rollback/uninstall/reinstall - no fix

I changed the wifi driver band from auto 2.4ghz/5ghz - no fix

What fixed it for me was going to my router settings and changing it from Long Preamble to short pre amble.

Went from 1mbps to 30mbps (my limit from where i am from)

Hope this helps. My router is a netgear.

Changing the Preamble on my Nighthawk router fixed my slow wifi on my SP4 also. THANKS!!!!!

That's a strange one Shawn....clicking on your link shows them listed on my reply post and that I had already installed them.

Why they should want reinstalling I have no idea.
