Windows 10: Surface Pro 7 - MS Display Adapter

Dear Community!


TL;DR: Does the Surface Pro 7 support the MS Display Adapter? If so, anything specific I've got to take care of?


On all the MS Display support pages I've found thus far, it does not mention the SP7, but I assume it to just be due to a lack of updating old support pages.

I recently purchased a SP7 after my SP4 wouldn't let me log in anymore without crashing otherwise it was perfectly fine as far as I am concerned and I've been trying to get the MS Display Adapter to work, alas to no avail.


Some troubleshooting info:

Display Adapter works with both my Galaxy S10 and my Lenovo Thinkpad - making me assume for the issue to lie on the SP7 side of things.

Display Adapter is at V2.0.8350

When it fails connecting, it sometimes messes up Windows up so much that it does not allow me to get the banner on top or the right side to go away upon losing focus, and I cannot even restart it normally without forcing it with the ON/OFF button for 8 secs.


I've tried:

-Resetting the adapter

-Un-/re-plugging the adapter

-Checking updates Up-to-date, Version 2004

-Uninstalling network adapter/MS Display Adapter in device manager and restarting for it to reinstall

-A bunch of restarts between steps

Surface Pro 7 Dual Monitor Support with Microsoft wireless display adapter

Does the Surface Pro 7 and 2 Wireless Display Adapters support two external monitors with the Wireless/HDMI/USB adapters sold as an accessory with the Surface Pro 7?

My displays have HDMI and USB. y question is about the Surface Pro 7 Windows 10?

I understand that you want to project the Surface Pro screen to the PC and use it as a second monitor. Since you are using a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 usb-c external monitor problems

The MS Surface Pro 7 has a very picky usb-c port, is anybody looking at improving this port.

The computers below work with any of our external monitors, HDMI adapters or cables.

MS Surface Pro 1 mini display port
MS Surface Pro 3 mini display port
HP Spectre Bang Olufsen usb-c port

MS Surface Pro 7 usb-c port - ONLY works with a Moshi 4K/60 HDMI adapter.

I bought the MS Surface Pro 7 in late March 2020.

Only after installing update KB4551762 on March 27th did the external monitor work properly (with the Moshi adapter). I have version 1909 installed.

The MS Surface Pro 7 is now updated to KB4550945

These adapters still DO NOT WORK for the MS Surface Pro 7:

Microsoft usbc to HMDI adapter
Belkin (4K/60hz) usbc to HMDI adapter
Satechi (4K slim multi port) usbc to HMDI adapter

The monitor says Input Signal Not Found.

The external monitor is a new HP Pavillion 27inch Quantum Dot.

The cable spec is 0.5m ESL high speed gaming.

Only for this Moshi 4K/60 HDMI adapter, I would have needed to return the MS Surface Pro 7.
