Windows 10: Surface Pro locked in Recovery Mode and I have no Bitlocker recovery key. Now what?

My Surface Pro 8 or 9 I think is locked and in recovery mode and is requiring a Bitlocker key to unlock. I do not have a key and I do not have a personal Microsoft account only a work-related one. I have never signed into my work related Microsoft account on this Surface so my work administrator does not have a Bitlocker key for this device. So there is no way to get the key. I have read about a "recovery USB". I don't know what that is and I don't have one. I also do not have any paperwork from when the machine was new. What options do I have? Surface pro locked with screen 'preparing bitlocker recovery'

Hello,

Last week, my surface stopped syncing my one-note and told me that I was out of space, I deleted all folders on my surface and then it gave me the blue screen and said 'error. surface pro needed to restart'. After it restarted, I could not log back in.
It kept giving me a screen that said 'Preparing BitLocker recovery' and it would most times freeze on that screen. I got my recovery key and was able to create a recovery drive (I hope) to use to restore the surface. After trying different suggestions off
the Microsoft site, I was able to get it to the troubleshooting page. I tried the info suggested to use from the Microsoft site: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...ating-and-using-a-usb-recovery-drive#Download on
the command prompt page, but it gave me a message that said 'the operation could not be performed because the volume is locked'. It won't let me uninstall any of the latest updates either or clear my data off the surface and reset. Can anyone please help me?
Also, if I get this fixed, how can I stop it from happening again?

 

Surface pro 3 bitlocker recovery key

Hi there.

i recently ran into a problem with my surface pro 3 where it wouldn't boot - and it would only go to the UEFI (BIOs menu) no matteri if i tried a two button power shutdown or power up as suggested. I therefore downloaded a USB recovery file available on
the Microsoft website, but the available recovery options such as refresh or reset wont work. I then tried command prompt but it kept saying failure to copy boot files.

I am now in the process of exchanging it- but i want to recover my files from the hard drive. the only problems i see are how can i do that? and i cant get the bitlocker recovery key because microsoft forced me to change my security settings and as a result
i am now locked out of the recovery key page for 30 days.

2. Did you ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key on your computer?
3. Are you not able to login to your Microsoft Account to find the BitLocker Recovery Key?
4. Are you using Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Professional?

Meanwhile, try finding BitLocker Recovery Key if you have ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key for your computer.
