Windows 10: Surface Pro touchpad stopped working and not showing in device manager any more?

Hello, can anyone help me with this? Suddenly lost use of the trackpad on my Surface type cover. Keyboard works fine, and same situation if I put it on someone else's type cover.


Pen works mostly, although I can't use it to close windows for some reason.


If I use a USB mouse, I have a mostly normal cursor and can use the computer, except the mouse pointer flickers when I move it and disappears when I stop moving the mouse.


Have rolled back windows, restored windows to initial state, no luck.


When I boot into safe mode, the trackpad works normally.


Performed a clean boot with no extra services running, and still have the problem.


Unable to diagnose this one--if someone can help me out, I'd sure appreciate it.

Touchpad does not show up in Device Manager nor in Settings, Bluetooth and Other Devices

I have the MS Surface Pro (5th gen). I have a fintie Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad. I would like to turn off some touchpad short cuts. The settings for the touchpad do not show up at all on either Touchpad does not show up in Device Manager nor in
Settings, Bluetooth and Other Devices.

1. Help me get touchpad settings to show up.
2. Is there a way to turn off the gesture that minimizes the window when swipe from top of the touchpad down. Very Irritating, that one.

 

surface pro 4 touchpad not working

I had this problem for a while now. my surface pro 4 type cover touchpad doesn't work. it used to work. my windows 10 has the latest updates installed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers which
I downloaded from Microsoft's website. my mouse works fine when I connect it to the device and my type cover touchpad also works on other surface pros. I used the troubleshooter for hardware devices and it also didn't help. what should I do?!

update:

I opened device management and under mouse and pointer devices found 4 HID compliant devices and uninstalled them all and suddenly my touchpad started working but after a restart it stopped working again.
I tried disabling the same 4 HID compliant devices and its working but this is a temporary solution. I'd like to know what is the problem and how to fix it?

 

Surface touchpad not working

Sometimes my Surface Pro 4 touchpad stops working when I resume from sleep. The keys on the type cover still work, just no responsiveness from the touchpad.

Microsoft support recommends reattaching the cover, getting the latest updates (have them), or restarting the machine.

Restarting usually does the trick, but it's obviously very annoying to do so. Is there some way I can get it to recognize the touchpad again without a full restart? Maybe some trickery in the device manager or the registry?
