Windows 10: Surface slim pen 2 tip is failing to ink

Hi, My surface slim pen 2 pen tip stopped working. The pen is recognized by the device and the curser is even seen however the pen tip is just not inking, the back end however does work. My computer is a surface studio, I have already changed the pen tip and uninstalled several drivers as seen on other threads however the pen still continues to fail to ink.

Surface Pen not inking after a week

Windows 10 21H1, Surface 7, Surface Pen.

I have undertaken the following steps:

• windows is up-to-date
  
• uninstalled drivers (Pen and related, Ink)
  
• updated drivers
  
• complete shutdown into UEFI
  
• changed battery
  
• tried alternate pen which worked (friends that worked)
  
• tried pen on his surface (failed)
  
• changed pen tip (ridiculous step if you don't have the spare tips)
  
• connected and reconnected bluetooth
  
• cleaned the connectors of the pen as best as I can
  
• I've seen a recommendation to update to Windows 11, however I am not comfortable in doing so at this stage. It should be functioning with Windows 10, there is no reason for it not to.
  

On two occasions the pen inked for approximately 1 minute, then stopped.

The purpose of my surface was for university this year, but if the pen fails after a week. It will be best to return the various Microsoft Surface, Keyboard, and Pen, and looking into Apple's alternatives. I can't be spending hours (still in support queue at the time of writing) trying to troubleshoot this each time Microsoft's product fails to meet standards...

 

Windows INK issue with Adobe Illustrator, surface book 2 pen input

Howdy all!

I have an issue with Adobe illustrator and windows INK and surface book 2 pen input

While using Surface pen on my surface book 2 screen in Adobe Illustrator, drawing with the PEN tool the preview is dark blue.
When using my finger, the preview line is the colour of the layer. This includes using a mouse.

But when drawing with the pen tool, the line is blue and also quite laggy in illustrator. This lag completely disappears if drawing with a mouse or my finger.

So I am trying to work out if Windows INK is automatically recognizing the pen and defaulting to a certain setting.
or its an illustrator or adobe setting.
There is no settings which I can find that have any effect on this automatic default.

Any help apprecited, As I currently cant work becuase there is too much lag using the surface pen... and drawing my finger is harder than it sounds lol.

Cursor shows with Surface Slim Pen

I am using a Surface Book 2 (Windows 10 1909) with a Surface Slim Pen (but it used to happen when I was using the Surface Pen too).

Despite having disabled the cursor with the Surface Pen in settings, it shows up very frequently when I start using the pen (in the whole Windows system, not just a specific app).

Every time it happens, to fix the problem I have to restart the Surface: when restarted, the cursor doesn't show anymore (correctly).
