Surface Windows 10 keeps asking for PIN on lock screen even though I didn't set it?

When I start up my device it asks me for the PIN and since I didn't remember setting it I used my password to get in, and tried resetting the PIN. But under the settings it says PIN is not available and it says it only works with an organisational account like school or company. What is going on? Why does it keep asking me for the PIN if I can't even set it up? Also, why should PIN only be an option if you sign in with an organisation account? I don't understand why it would make me even sign in when the device should know that I'm trying to set a PIN for the device I'm currently in...

    :)

  2. Pin lock screen background

Hi! I'm trying to change the background of the lock screen on my surface pro 3 with windows 10. I can easily change the background of the normal lock screen, the one that can we swiped up. But I'd like to change the lock screen where I have to enter my pin
or password: I haven't been able to find an option to set it. It keeps showing the dark blue image with blue windows logo on the right. Any suggestion?

    Lock Screen keeps changing

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Windows Spotlight picks the photos from Bing and displays them in the lock screen. I understand that you have set a picture and it is getting changed automatically.

I suggest you to follow the steps to select the Picture that you want to be displayed on the lock screen. Please follow the steps mentioned below to set a Picture to lock screen:

    1. Press and hold Windows + I key on the keyboard to open settings.
    2. Click on Personalization.
    3. Click on Lock screen.
    4. Click on the drop down under Background and select
      Picture.
    5. Click on Browse and select the picture that you want to set.

    Hope it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.

  4. Surface Windows 10 keeps asking for PIN on lock screen even though I didn't set it?

Windows 10 Xbox App asking for PIN number I never set.

    Hi,

If you signed in to Windows 10 using your Microsoft account, the Xbox app will take the credentials you've used to sign in. There's a possibility that the PIN code you're asked to enter is the PIN code of your Windows 10 user account. Let's remove the PIN
    code. Here are the steps:

    • Click Start and select Settings.
    • Select Accounts.
    • Select Sign-in options, under PIN, click
      Remove
      .
    • Confirm the changes by entering your profile password.
    Refer to
Can I sign in to Windows without a password
for the steps on how to change the sign-in options for your Windows 10 device.

If the same instance occurs after removing the PIN code and changing your user account's sign-in options, we suggest that you sign in to
Xbox.com. This is to verify if there's an issue with your Xbox account.

Keep us posted with the results. We'd be glad to further assist you.
