Windows 10: Surface won't sleep when cover/keyboard is closed

My Surface was working great until I did a Windows update a few weeks ago. The first issue was that I was unable to get wifi. That was resolved but first I needed to go 1980's and use an ethernet cable.


The second issue is that everytime I close the keyboard, my surface won't go to sleep like before. It just stays on until the battery runs out. The alternate route I have to do right now is manually place the surface to sleep then close the cover.


I have tried to change the power settings but it just tells me that the file is missing. I tried to fix with the power troubleshooter and still nothing. I've tried to go through the CMD and nothing.


Obviously the keyboard works because I am typing on it as we speak. When I do close the cover, I do see a message on the surface asking me if I want to change to Tablet mode.


Every day I check for windows updater just in case MS has a found a fix for this so my Surface is up to date.

Surface Pro 4: closing type cover activates tablet mode


I have a Surface Pro 4 with the Surface Dock hooked to an external monitor (via DisplayPort) and a keyboard & mouse.

When I close the type cover on the Surface, it automatically activates Tablet Mode. Now, I know I can change the behavior to make Windows 10 ask me what to before switching modes, but until I switched to using a dock and external monitor, I've never needed/wanted Windows 10 to ask me! It always "did the right thing" with the Surface, correctly responding to the type cover be attached, detached, or folded back.

How can I tell Windows 10 or the Surface to NOT activate tablet mode when the type cover is closed?

Microsoft Surface 3 Keyboard Bug on Windows 10

When I close the keyboard cover on my Microsoft Surface 3 and open it again, my computer acts like I'm holding my finger down on the top of the screen. I have to reboot the computer to stop it from acting like that. I re-installed Windows 8 & WIndows 8.1
and both other versions of the operating system don't do this.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so do you know how to fix it? It is really annoying to have to reboot after closing the keyboard cover.

STEPS TO REPLICATE:

• BOOT WINDOWS 10
• CLOSE KEYBOARD COVER
• OPEN KEYBOARD COVER
• MINIMIZE ALL WINDOWS AND YOU WILL SEE THAT IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR FINGER IS PRESSING THE TOP MIDDLE SECTION OF THE SCREEN.
  

NOTE: YOU HAVE TO CHANGE POWER OPTIONS TO "DO NOTHING" WHEN YOU CLOSE THE LID.
