Windows 10: Surfacebook 2 copy to ext says not enough space

We have a surfacebook 2 that we brought new, My wife uses it for her work but after this problem existing for as long as I remember the hdd is now full.When we try to transfer or backup data to an external drive or a server it says that the destination doesn’t have enough space, the hdd in the surfacebook is a 512gig.We have tried two separate new 2 separate SSD’s and the server is 8tb and empty.On all 3 we have had notices saying not enough space, sometimes it allows a transfer and when we check what’s been copied across there are many files missing. Cannot see my ext WD 2 TB HDD


Ran into this problem transferring media files from my laptop to the WD ext hdd. Both USB 3.
"My Book", my 2 TB WD ext HDD I cannot be seen on my laptop nor my media mini pc
I found it in Disk Management. It is shown as Disk 2. It has a black streak all the way (full?) It has excess of I,8 TB used and indicates that it is unitialized.


I have attached a snipper capture of the disk management page.

How do I get the ext HDD to function without losing all my media? I am not technically savvy, but can follow step by step advice.

Not enough space even though there is space

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We will surely assist you with the issue. Refer the below steps.

Step 1:

I suggest you to change the file system to NTFS while formatting and then try copying the files and check.



Step 2:

• • Take the backup of the data, if you have any important data in it?
    
  • Let’s format the drive and check.
    
  • Go to this PC.
    
  • Right click on the external USB device.
    
  • Select Format.

Note: Formatting will delete all the data in the device, taking a backup of the data is recommended before performing a format.

SurfaceBook - Microsoft Edge freezes up entire computer

I tried this as you suggested. Clearing all caches etc from Edge. My SurfaceBook froze again. I'm typing this through firefox.

There's no excuse why I would need to reset my brand new surfacebook.. that is just embarrassing.
