Windows 10: Surround sound configure only has stereo

A couple of days ago Win 11 decided that my 5.1 speaker setup wasn't really there.So I went down to stereo, when I run the "Playing Audio Troubleshooter" that is about to be retired it can solve the problem automatically and on a test all 5 speakers and sub sound off.Once it has worked once, something in windows reaches forth and disables it again.If I run the "Configure speakers" I am able to select 5.1 but again the system refuses to recognise the choice, when I go into Properties on the sound device the "Jack Information" only shows LR Green Rear Panel 3.5 mm Jack.If I disconnect and re

5.1 surround sound

Just upgraded to latest Windows 10. Surround sound is not on audio channel menu. Only "stereo" is listed. Surround sound is also now not working on ONKYO receiver. Windows says I have latest sound driver.

All other help messages talk about realtek. I just have what came with Dell computer.

im trying too set up surround sound, my 3 jacks are hooked up to a aux splitter and put into mu green port. when i try and configure my speakers only setero comes up and not 5.1. not sure how to fix this.
