Suspected problem with Dell 1550W wireless driver

I attach the zip file as requested.

The driver is the latest on that Dell have released. There are three minidumps here, all of which occurred while I was working using the wireless ethernet, never any problems when using wired.

Cheers
Dave

Windows 10 update to 1511 breaks wireless internet connection

I finally got the wireless working again. I bought an Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7620 adapter and replaced the Dell Wireless 1703. As soon as the computer booted with the Intel adapter I was able to connect to the router. Windows had working drivers for
the Intel 7620, both wi-fi and Bluetooth. I updated the drivers via the Device Manager just to make sure the latest drivers work, which they do.

I wish I hadn't had to purchase a new wireless adapter to fix this problem but it appears as if build 1511 of Windows 10 does not work with any of the Dell Wireless 1703 drivers. These drivers are used in these systems: Dell
Inspiron 7520/5535/5735/3521/3721/5521/5721, Vostro 3560/2521 so I suspect many people will experience this problem.

Suspected problem with Dell 1550W wireless driver

Probably, but it's possible a corrupted file was replaced.

If you want to pursue this more aggressively then I suggest enabling Driver Verifier and see if that shakes out anything.

===================================================
Driver Verifier
is a diagnostic tool built into Windows 10, it is designed to verify both native Microsoft drivers and third party drivers. Driver Verifier's verification process involves putting heavy stress on drivers with the intention of making bad, outdated, incompatible or misbehaving drivers fail. The required result is a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) which will generate a crash dump for debugging purposes.
Machines exposed to Driver Verifier will run very sluggishly due to the stress being applied to the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable in Windows 10

Pay close attention to

PART TWO
Suspected problem with Dell 1550W wireless driver [IMG]

and make sure the correct boxes are checked.

Warning:
It is not advised to run Driver Verifier for more than 48 hours at a time. Disable Driver Verifier after 48 hours or after receiving a BSOD, whichever happens soonest.

Always create a Restore Point prior to enabling Driver Verifier.

What we're looking for is a BSOD with a mini dump that will tell us what driver caused it.

Here you are - it BSODed (MEMORY_MANAGEMENT) within 5 minutes of booting after turning on driver verifier.

APOLLO-02_01_2017_104853_83.zip

Please let me know what else I can do.

Thanks

No new dump in the zip file. Last one is dated 12/26.

I see a lot of entries in eventlog.txt for Bluetooth. Do you have any Bluetooth devices?

Also see a lot of these in eventlog.txt:
Code: Event[44307]: Log Name: System Source: hcmon Date: 2017-01-02T10:46:24.195 Event ID: 0 Task: N/A Level: Warning Opcode: N/A Keyword: Classic User: N/A User Name: N/A Computer: APOLLO Description: Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\hhdusbh64).
I would uninstall this program for now.

The first file in APOLLO-02_01_2017_104853_83.zip is 010217-12828-01.dmp from this morning at 10:46 which I just verified from the file in the upload.

HHD Software Free USB Analyzer 7.71 SW removed.

Yes, I have a couple of bluetooth devices, a serial device, and GPS (also serial NMEA), but neither are currently powered on.

I have turned off BT for the meantime. Bluetooth services provided by the same card as 802.11ac wireless FWIW (different driver tho').

You can find the full dump file at www..co.uk/MEMORY.zip. Please let me know when you have it and I'll delete it from the server.

Thank you, Dave

Suspected problem with Dell 1550W wireless driver

You're right, sorry. The sorting by name moved it to the top of the list, not where I expected it.

Code: BugCheck 1A, {4477, 1293000b, 0, 0} *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for bcmwl63a.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for bcmwl63a.sys
Driver Description: Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter wireless driver - I believe you actually have a Dell Wireless 1550 802.11ac.

The one you have is dated: Mon Nov 23 17:56:21 2015

The large memory dump has the same error indicated. Look for an updated driver for the Dell Wireless 1550 802.11ac and if no luck try the Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter.

The sad news is that Dell don't have a more recent driver listed, and I couldn't find a suitable one on Broadcom's site *Sad

I'll take another look at the Broadcom site just in case I missed it.

Otherwise I guess it's a case of contact Dell Support and hope they do something (I can dream).

Thank you for looking
