    Hi team,
    I am running windows 10, version 1067.
For past 1h my cpu is running high, and i have narrowed down issue to proces:
svchost(netsvcs) pid 576 to be utilizing cpu.

    svchost(netsvcs) utilizing 25% of CPU def_update looping 1.237.1259.0 [IMG]

I've noticed that on windows update page, windows is trying to download
"Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.237.1259.0)." and it is stuck in a loop there, trying to download and failing.

I tried rebooting notebook, but as soon as it boots up cpu usage is high again.
Windows defender seem to be updated with definitions mentioned above 1.237.1259.0

dump files for svchost.exe are ~200MB so can't really upload them here, but if anyone would find it helpful i will put them on dropbox.

    Thanks

    :)

My CPU usage reaches 98% when I don't move my cursor for few minutes

Looks like it might be the svchost process.

    This is not uncommon.

Below is a link on steps to fix this issue.

Let me know how you make out.

  3. System is using most of my Internet Bandwidth (svchost.exe%20(netsvcs)

Try clearing the event viewer logs? It helped me.
    svchost.exe (netsvcs)

    1. Open an elevated command prompt.

    2. Copy and paste the command below into the elevated command prompt, and press Enter.

    for /F "tokens=*" %1 in ('wevtutil.exe el') DO wevtutil.exe cl "%1"

    3. The event logs will now be cleared. You can close the command prompt when it's finished.

only workaround is to disable windows update service, stopping it doesn't make a difference as it starts again on its own.

  5. Welcome to the TenForums @xrefa

Potentially your update process maybe having some difficulties. This months updates were very large and took over an hour on one of my machines. Downloads, stop, disk usage up, pattern repeats.I would do this and then just let it run. It could take a little time.

Windows key + S, search bar appears, type troubleshooting into search bar, troubleshooting appears at top. Click it, window opens, lower right side "Fix problems with Windows Update", click. Window opens, click on “advance”, click on Run as administrator, click “Next”. Should run clean. If not run again.
