Windows 10: Sway beats OneNote, OneNote has to imporve

OneNote an amazing application, but when it comes to inserting images or other content things start to become spoofy. For example, when I add a vertical-taken-photo to a note on my iPhone, the photo takes up the whole space; and when opening the same note on my Windows the whole page is taken. So, then I try to scale it and drag it around by which it suddenly appears somewhere unknown; when scrolling back to the text part it cannot be found. After zooming and zooming out some written text is finally visible; than the zooming in starts which takes some time...

Sway present content a lot more easy. Just add, content, write content and done.

OneNote should has a easy-to-place feature something similar which is possible with InDesign, but than as rigid as Sway has. So, spoofy pictures are no longer a problem anymore.

Microsoft should develop this feature like there 'tiles feature.'

Add your OneNote images to Sway

Millions of people love using OneNote to capture and organize information. Teachers in particular love OneNote for organizing lesson plans and other information about their classroom. Today, we’re introducing the first version of OneNote integration in Sway—to help you capture, organize and visualize your ideas in a new and seamless way.

With Sway, it’s easy to add your content from your other apps and services without leaving the app. Now, with the recent integration of OneNote, you can easily add images to your Sways from your OneNote notebooks saved on OneDrive. Whether you capture documents, whiteboards, or business cards using Office Lens; or send your web and screen clips to OneNote using the OneNote Clipper—now you can easily add those images to your Sway to help bring your ideas to life. Simply select OneNote from the drop-down on the Insert tab, navigate to your desired images and drag and drop them into the Storyline.

On the Insert tab, OneNote is the newest source from which you can add content directly into Sway.
Recently added images displays images from your most recently modified OneNote pages. This means the document screenshots you just captured via Office Lens or the web clipping you just sent to OneNote are just a few taps or clicks away in Sway.

Learning from you: we realize that images are not the only type of content you may want to add to Sway from OneNote, and as noted above, this is just the first version of OneNote integration in Sway. Before we add more functionality, as part of Sway Preview, we want to make sure we understand which additional capabilities you would like to see from OneNote integration. We’ve added a short two-question survey directly in the OneNote section of the Insert tab. We’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions!

More third-party sources for embeddable web content

A few weeks back, we introduced support for easily embedding a variety of web content types from other services directly in Sway–including videos, images, audio clips, maps, charts and documents. This expanded the types of interactive multimedia you can include in Sway to help communicate your ideas.

We’ve since expanded that list even further, to include Office Mix, Infogr.am, Mixcloud, and even Sway itself. You heard correctly—now you can even embed a Sway in a Sway. Imagine a teacher making a Sway to show a bunch of student-made Sways for a class project. Or a Sway with a variety of Office Mix lessons. The possibilities are endless.

Suggested searches is more powerful

In December, we added Bing Image Search and Suggested searches, expanding Sway’s ability to help you while you create by anticipating what content you might want to incorporate. Suggested searches uses natural language processing to continuously show you tags for related words and phrases you might be interested in searching on, based on what you’ve already written and the specific content in the area where you’re working in the Storyline.

Now we’re expanding the results of Suggested searches to include YouTube videos and tweets, in addition to images from Bing Image Search. You can continue to select Suggested from the Insert tab and tap or click tags for related words or phrases to initiate searches. The results now include videos, tweets and images tagged with Creative Commons licenses or already within the public domain (you can still choose to expand your search results to include images not tagged with the Creative Commons license by clicking the Show all results button). Just drag and drop any item right into your Sway. Please remember you are responsible for respecting the rights of others, including copyright (learn more here).

Sway’s Suggested search results now include YouTube videos and tweets, in addition to Bing Image Search results.
Sway now also shows you Suggested search tags when Bing, YouTube or Twitter are selected on the Insert tab. This way, it’s easier for you to initiate a Suggested search of content from within the currently selected source. With these two updates to Suggested searches, Sway is an even more powerful content gathering assistant, making it easier than ever to find your content and bring it to life.

New interactive photo options

Over the next few days, Sway will add two more ways to make your images more interactive and engaging!

Comparison will let you use a slider to visually compare two images overlaying each other, instead of seeing them side by side. Moving the slider in either direction will hide more of one image so you can see more of the other.

Slideshow will let you peruse multiple images as a carousel, slider or a slideshow with thumbnails. Slideshows will be perfect for having all your images in one place.

It will be easy to transform your images with these new options. On the Cards tab, you’ll just tap, click or drag to add a Comparison or Slideshow Card to your Sway. In the empty Card, select + Add Content or drag and drop to start adding images.

More ways to share and grow your audience

Sways are great for sharing, and we’ve heard feedback during Sway Preview that you’d like more ways to control the level at which you share. So, now when you select Share, there are three options:

Public—Are you making a marketing brochure, a portfolio or just expressing yourself, and want to grow your audience? This option makes your Sway discoverable on the Internet. This means anyone can potentially use Bing, Google or other search engines to find, view and even share your Sway. You can gain many more viewers who may find your Sway during the course of their everyday searches.

People with the link—Same as the behavior Sway has had until now, where your Sway is not made available to search engines, but anybody with the unique URL for your Sway can view it, without logging in. This is the default setting for all new Sways and any previously-created Sways.

Just me—Want your Sway to stay private? This option requires you to log in with your personal credentials to see your Sway. Even those with the URL would not be able to see it without your log in information.

Now you can control the level at which your Sway is shared.

OneNote 2016 occasional artifacting. Should I be worried?

I'll let the picture do the talking:

Only happens sometimes. Does not happen in any other program, even when the artifacting is happening in OneNote. OneNote is up to date. Artifacting always on bottom 1/4 of the screen, but always inside of the OneNote window.

Should I be worried about my GPU? Have had the 1070 for less than 2 weeks.

Send to onenote

Hi,

It may be an issue with the add ins in OneNote, we suggest that you disable OneNote add-on and enable it. To do so, follow the steps below:

Open Internet Explorer.

Click Manage add-ons.

On the left pane, click Toolbars and Extensions.

On the right hand side of the page check for Send to OneNote add-on. Highlight
Send to OneNote and click on disable.

Once the add-on is disabled highlight the add-on again and enable it.

Note: To enable the File menu in Internet Explorer press the
Alt key on your keyboard.

You may also perform an online repair in Office 2007, to do an Online repair, follow the steps below:

Press Windows + X.

Click Control Panel.

Click Programs and Features.

Right click Microsoft Office, click Change.

Choose Online repair.

Follow the on-screen instructions.
