  1. Switch back to PIN from Windows logon

    Hi!!!

The laptop that I use a PIN to log on clearly has on the login screen under the PIN area the option to change to other types of login credentials (i.e., MSID, Local Account), but on another laptop where I changed over to Windows Logon I do not have any such option displayed, nor can I find it in Settings:Accounts:Sign-in Options (though it DOES have there the option to change the PIN and other credential particulars).

Am I missing something or are they???

    THANK-YOU!

    :)

  2. Lost PIN after a restart now constantly asked to verify my MS Account

did you make a restore point before you had this problem?

if yes: use it to restore your pc to working order if you have backup such as symantec ghost use it

if no: I am assuming you switched from ms account logon to PIN logon before you switched to PIN logon you should have created a restore point what you can do now is to create a new administrator account in pc settings or control panel and transfer your
data over set it to PIN logon and delete your old account

  3. I have a PIN setup in Account Sign On Options, but logon only asks for password not PIN

There is no option to allow logon with my PIN, even though it's setup properly under Accounts/Sign In Options in Settings. Only option in settings is to change my pin. Logon asks for password, and tells you it's wrong if you try using the pin. There
are no options on the logon screen to switch to logging on by using pin instead of password.

Switch back to PIN from Windows logon

Hi bruce! Welcome to W10F! *Smile

If you create another/alternative login credential, the options should show at the login screen.

  5. Thank-you for the quick response!

I suspect I am being caught by the word "should" once again in my life. I went to the credentials sign-in options screen from settings and changed my PIN hoping that would somehow jog it into allowing the change, but no luck. I know I could create a new account if this is what we are contemplating, but I would likely have to change my username. Of course as a last ditch effort I could then delete the original account from which I want the user name and then create a new account with that user name, but I find when I do this Windows starts renaming new folders under the "users" branch and things start to get confusing... Thoughts?

  6. Dang, you're good...

I KNOW I did that a day or two ago and didn't get anywhere. I just did it again, computer went through some updates, and resarted with the PIN option.

Does Microsoft pay you a small fortune to be a psychic/telekinetic wizard???

    In all seriousness, thank-you!

  7. I am very sorry to report that I screwed up. Juggling between two laptops and I mistook the laptop that the PIN is working on to be the problem laptop. So far I have tried setting the PIN to a new PIN (It shows "Change PIN" and not "Add PIN" or whatever the caption is when one has not yet been created, so I know Windows knows that there is a PIN associated with the account, so the logical question is "Why doesn't it offer the option to use the other login methods?"

I further chose to try the "I forgot my PIN" function. This took me to a screen to enter my Microsoft Account password and after hitting "Next" or "Continue" or whatever, the window disappeared then reappeared as if I never entered the password. After doing this about four times I entered the feedback for MS. It is looking evermore that if I want to use a PIN (no big deal, just ticked that I can't), I would have to create a new account with that option (which I will try and report back on), and IF I want to still use that user name, copy over all user files to a holding folder, blow away the original account, and then see what happens when I recreate it.

Now, on what day are they planning to release this???

edit: Attempted adding an adult user. Unfortunately I kept running into "There's a temporary problem with this service"...

edit #2: And... When I go back to the Settings:Accounts page, at the top selection of Your Account I am asked to verify my identity, so I get that Microsoft Account login page again, which, of course, starts going in circles as above, presenting me with a clean page every time I enter my password (and by this time I have had many, many times to make certain I am entering the right password. Anyway, when I enter the wrong password (as I just did to see what happens) it says in red that The password is incorrect. What month are they planning to release this???

  8. Switch back to PIN from Windows logon

Alright, so maybe I have had too much coffee in my youth.

Now that a couple computers are using the Windows or Microsoft or Passport, as it once was called, login, how do I change those computers back to using a PIN???

    Thanks!!!
