Windows 10: Switch user to local account. No option to do so.

Technical: Windows 10 Home Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.1288Warning: I know just enough to be dangerous.What happened: I set up my husband's PC with a local account when he first got it. I got a Windows 365 license for my Surface Pro. My husband asked if I could put it on his PC, too. So I did and during the process I changed his local account to a Microsoft account using my email. We soon found that we were bumping into each other so we got another license for husband's PC. We were able to use his Microsoft account to change the Office programs to his account but I can't sign out of his PC. Th

Local Acct user and MS account user - sync them or merge them

If the local account is the one where you have most of your personal data, this is how I would do it:

• Sign in to your Microsoft account
  
• Copy all documents, pictures and other personal data from Microsoft account's user folders to corresponding folders in user Public (contents of MS account Documents folder to Public Documents folder and so on)
• Sign out from Microsoft account

Notice that above steps are only required if Microsoft account user folders contain data you want to keep. If its user folders are empty or do not contain anything worth saving, you can skip the above steps. Continue from below.

• Sign in to the local account
  
• Delete the Microsoft account (Option One in this tutorial)
• Switch your local account to a Microsoft account (tutorial)
• Copy the data backed up from old Microsoft account to Public folders to new Microsoft account in corresponding folders

That's it. Using the Public folders as temporary storage you will have none whatsoever file owner / permission issues later on.

Switch Back to Existing Local Account from Microsoft Account

I already identified that I had tried this, and that it did not allow me to switch back to the original Local Account. The Microsoft Account hijacked the User Name of the original Local Account. When I click "Sign in With a Local Account instead" and enter
the original User Name, Windows 10 won't proceed. The only way to get back to a Local Account is enter a new User Name.
