Windows 10: Switched from AMD to Nvidia; GTX 1070 crashes under heavy loads

I bought an MSI GTX 1070 Gaming from a friend recently as he upgraded and didn't have a use for the old quite used card. He says the card was working before it was taken out, around 6 months ago. His rig uses an 800W PSU, but my 650W PSU should theoretically still be enough for a 1070 and 3600. I switched out my years old RX 570 for the new card today and everything seemed to wor

Hard crashes with ANY heavy load

Out of the blue, my computer has been crashing upon heavy loads. For example, playing a game. I can load into the menu fine, but when it finishes loading the game, either the game will crash or my computer will black screen and restart. Specs and what I have tried already are as follows:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
  
• RAM: 32GB Corsair DDR4-3200MHz
  
• MOBO: ASUS X470 Prime Pro
  
• GPU: ZOTAC GTX-1070
  
• PSU: Corsair CX450
  

What I have tried:

• Updated drivers for CPU, GPU and MOBO BIOS updated
  
• reinstall GPU drivers via NVIDIA software utilities
  
• unplugged and reconnected all PSU connections, reseated GPU
  

I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions you have to fix my issues are greatly appreciated.

What video card did you have prior to the 1070?
What Power Supply do you have?

Hmm, looked at DxDiag output and it shows the AMD Radeon R9 200 Series, not a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. Need you to run DM_Log_collector with the GTX 1070 card installed and upload the complete zip.

 

New GTX 1070 Display ports not working


Hi , after a quick look , that Monitor is probably from 2010 or 2011 , so I'd guess it is DP 1.1 , maybe 1.2 which came out in 2009,
but both are capable of 1440 res . according to WikiPedia at 30hz or 60hz

DisplayPort 1.4 that the 1070 uses only came out in March , I would assume it can use lower versions but you would need to ask on Nvidia or the GByte Forums. I know I had to switch my BenQ 3200 to DP 1.2 in the menu to get a clear picture and that is the version my 970 is using , however there can't be too many Monitors using DP 1.4 yet , since it was only ratified back in March.

Does the card have the latest Bios?

Also seen reports that 368.69 drivers are broken on 10 series cards (no boost) and that for some users DP did not work until newer Drivers were installed
