So basically what happened was I wanted better performance for my PC and clicked on EZ Tuning Wizard which than prompts me with “Do you want to enable RAID” I clicked yes and then the problems began. After clicking yes my PC turned black and went back into BIOS which I was greeted with “Port Selection : Please select the port that you want to set [RAID] mode.” it gave me two options PCIE or SATA I chose SATA because my SSD is SATA. After clicking SATA I was prompted with “Storage Configuration : Welcome to the EZ RAID setup Wizard. This wizard helps you to easily configure the RAID system on y

RAID SATA default in my system, change to ACHI for new SSD Boot drive?

These steps can be used in windows 10 to go back and forth from raid mode to achi, or achi to raid, mode depending upon what you need...

    • If currently installed, uninstall your RAID or AHCI SATA driver (for intel, intel rapid storage technology)
    • Basically open msconfig -> boot tab -> check safe boot -> restart
    • Go into UEFI/BIOS and set SATA mode to which ever one you want
    • Boot up into windows safe mode
    • Open msconfig again -> under the main menu tab (general) click the normal startup circle - > restart
    • Your system should boot into windows fine and you can install your AHCI or RAID driver.

Dual boot - Windows 10 - Ubuntu - ACHI issues

Windows wil automatically install the correct SATA drivers when it boots, so long as there are no drivers already present. That's why you have to delete the existing drivers (RAID), boot into UEFI settings and change to ACHI mode, then reboot into Windows.

The problem is, though, there may be a different drive layout for RAID and ACHI, I don't know for sure. The UEFI may not be able to boot a drive originally set up for RAID in ACHI mode. But that would be at the UEFI firmware level and Windows drivers would have nothing to do with that.

    Windows 10 IDE-ACHI-Raid Drive problems

I have noticed a number of problems with the ide-achi-raid drives for windows 10.

First my intel raid 0 drive is notice by windows 10 as a ssd drive. if i update intel software no change.

second if I install the marvell sata 6g from windows 10 install or any driver. The windows system see the drive connected as a HDD, yet if i use standard achi drivers its noticed as a ssd.

On the Intel array i have 2x wd HDD 500gb as a raid 0

marvell chip has a samsung ssd 850 pro.

and the last problem is i have windows 10 installed on me ssd drive, yet if i go in to devices it think the system in on the raid drive.
