  1. Switching between discrete NVIDIA GPU and integrated Intel CPU/GPU (?)

    Virtual greetings.

I recently upgraded my ancient Windows 7 computer to a new and very potent desktop Windows 10 PC. This new PC will be connected via HDMI to a 4K QLED TV as the display monitor.

I wanted to use my new PC to watch commercial 4K Blu-ray movies (amongst other things), but was told that if I had a discrete graphics card, the internal Intel GPU would be automatically disabled, and due to ridiculous copy protection hardware requirements, you cannot watch said 4K Blu-rays through a discrete graphics card (!)

Then, today, I came across an article on the web: https://www.pcworld.com/article/2875600/windows-10-the-best-tips-tricks-and-tweaks.html#slide11 which mentions that Microsoft recently introduced "Per-app" GPU mangement in Windows 10, which would seem to have the ability to automatically switch between the two different GPUs depending on the task being performed. This would be ideal for my needs, but I can't find any more information regarding this feature.

I would be very grateful if some knowledgeable person could please advise me whether the above would allow me to watch Blu-ray movies on my PC or not - providing I have a suitable internal (Pioneer) 4K Blu-ray player and Cyberlink playback software installed on the PC (?)

BTW, my new Windows 10 Pro PC has an Intel i9-9900K CPU and an ASUS RTX-2080 Ti graphics card embedded in an MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard, if that is of any help in answering the question.

Thanks in advance for any advice regarding the above (very frustrating) conundrum.

    :)

discrete GPU (nvidia) and itegrated GPU (intel)

    Hello,
I have a bit of a problem... It refers to the GPU switching with the option of Running x application with intel or nvidia GPU. Once for example I choose the game running with the Nvidia graphic card after I look on task manager it still shows that application is running with 0 GPU (which is intel) and it also colides with the web browser which is stuttering. I have changed everything in the Nvidia panel and also intel panel to save options for each application to seperate nvidia from intel graphics, but it does not seem to work.
So my question is, is there any way to set up and force assign of nvidia graphic or intel graphics card through the registry (regedit)?
    My specs are:
    clevo based laptop,
    windows 10 (latest build),
    intel processor i-7700hq,
    intel graphic card 630,
    nvidia graphic card 1050 ti,
    16 gb of ram.
    Greetings.

Windows 10 Won't use NVIDIA GPU, Uses Integrated Graphics Instead! (LAPTOP)

I have a similar (same) problem with my ASUS laptop.

    My Laptop: ASUS F550L laptop

    SPECS:

    Windows: Windows 10

    Processor: Intel Core i7-4500MQ CPU @ 1.8GHz

    RAM: 8 GB

System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor.

    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M

    Integrated GPU: ?

    DirectX Version: ?

I have tried the steps listed above but they did not resolve the problem.

I have attempted to download an updated driver but my driver was reported as 'up to date'.

    What do I do now?
