Windows 10: Switching Desktops Goes to Wrong Desktop

Love the new multiple desktop feature, I currently have 8 different desktops going now. However, the one major annoyance I have is switching between them. When I hit the win + tab key to bring up the list of desktops and click on another desktop to switch, often I'll go to a completely different desktop than the one I clicked on. This happens at least one out of every 3 or 4 switch attempts. This has to be a bug, you click on a desktop you would expect to go to that desktop : . I'm running windows 10 x64. Thanks.

Windows 10 switching desktops (bug)

• Press 'Windows' key. It opens the 'Start' menu.
  
• Switch to any other desktop than current desktop using 'Ctrl' + 'Windows' + '->' (or '<-')
• Press escape ( to get rid of 'start' menu)

When I am taken back to the old desktop ( from where I switched to the new desktop).

Is this a bug ? Sometimes while switching desktops, I accidentally press the windows key which reproduces this issue and it is irritating.

 

GPU switching in desktop PCs

I haven't owned a desktop PC in a few years so I don't exactly know how goes the GPU switching but on a laptop (given you are using Windows) you could set which GPU is used for certain executable. This has a lot of advantages especially when you are multitasking.

Now I am considering buying a desktop PC which will have Intel iGPU and AMD dGPU and I wonder if I can use the PC in the same way as I am using laptop now. I would prefer to use dGPU only for graphic intensive tasks and iGPU for everything else but I don't know how goes the GPU switching and its connection to the output display ports.

Do desktop motherboards support GPU switching the same way as laptops do or is the use of active GPU relative to the port you are using, i.e. motherboard or graphic card port?

 

Desktop Shortcut Icons

Hi Mik-Dav,

The desktop shortcut created for a specific website should bear the website's actual logo. With what you've experienced, there could be something wrong with how the shortcut was created.

If you've created the shortcut by selecting Create shortcut, then we suggest that you try the other way, that is by dragging the website icon that appears in the address bar to your desktop. Follow these steps:

• Using Internet Explorer, access a website.
• Once the website opens, you will see its icon in the address bar.
• Click and drag the icon on your desktop.

The website shortcut bearing its actual logo should now be saved on your desktop.
