Windows 10: Synaptics SMBus clickpad has a yellow exclamation triangle on device manager...

Love everything except this trouble.


Synaptics SMBus clickpad has a yellow exclamation triangle on device manager...


I tried update... whatever I do, my clickpad won't work.


And this SMBus is found hidden on device manager.


Please help. I am Researcher, what do I do without a clickpad

Synaptics driver update for Synaptics SMBus ClickPad - Error 0x800f0248

Hi,

This issue may occur due to the outdated Synaptic Touchpad
drivers. Try the below steps and check if it helps.

I would suggest you to download and install the latest Synaptic Touchpad drivers from the device manufacturer’s website and uninstall the Synaptic touchpad drivers and re-install the same again.

Note: Make sure you download and save the Touch Pad driver and installed it before uninstalling the same.

To uninstall Synaptic touchpad drivers, follow these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate Mice and other pointing devices and expand the same.
  
• 
  Right-click the Synaptic driver and select
  Uninstall. (Note: keep the latest installed Synaptic driver)
  
• 
  Restart the computer, if prompted.

Laptop touchpad not working after win 10 update

Thank you for your reply.

I downloaded and installed the 3rd party driver (2018) but it did not work. In device manager the "Synaptics SMBus Clickpad" still has the dreaded yellow triangle with asterisk saying not working etc.

A yellow exclamation point next to a device in Device Manager means that Windows has identified a problem of some kind with that device.

The yellow exclamation mark provides an indication of a device's current status and could mean that there is a system resource conflict, a driver issue, or, frankly, almost any number of other things.

Unfortunately, the yellow mark does do is confirm that something called a Device Manager error code has been logged and associated with that particular device.
