    Synaptics SMBus driver causing issue with upgrading Win7 to Win10 Toshiba Satellite C655


    I am trying to upgrade a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5507 from Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 to Windows 10, using "MediaCreationTool1909." The laptop meets the system requirements, and I've run Windows Update several times. I have tried the upgrade several times.


    Using "SetupDiag," I found an issue with the Intel HD graphics driver, so I uninstalled it, but it seems that the best option is to have the most updated driver installed. The most recent attempt to upgrade resulted in an issue with "Synaptics SMBus Driver," so I uninstalled the touchpad driver and prevented automatic updates Device Manager now shows generic "PS/2 Compatible Mouse". However, the issue prevails. Is it possible to update this driver? Might I need to modify the registry? Here is the SetupDiag log. I appreciate any help.

    has the list of toshiba machines which support windows 10. Alas my Satellite C55Dt-A5106 PSCFWU did not make the list. I tried installing windows 10. Initially, only a minor video driver issue, after installing Windows 10. So, after upgrading the video driver, right click ceased to work, so back to 8.1.

    The laptop was purchased cheaply for $380 in early 2014. It looks like it was manufactured in 2012.
