    Sync files and folders automatically from pc to external hard drive


    How can I automatically sync my files and folders between my windows 10 laptop and external drive. Apart from OneDrive, I need to always keep my files and folders in sync between my laptops and external hard drive. I came across SyncToy online but I think it's restricted to windows 7.

    Hi John,

    We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
    The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

    How to delete folder/files when "Item Not Found" + folder located in external hard-drive

    There are possible factors for the folders to be missing or cannot be found. To isolate the issue, I have some
    questions for you:




    • Were there any error messages when you connect your external hard drive to your PC?

    • Have you tried searching for the folders while enabling the "show hidden files" in your external hard drive?

    • Were there any changes made before the issue occurred?

    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

    How do I sync a folder between 2 PCs?

    I'd like to set up a folder on my computer to sync automatically with another folder on another computer... Allow me to illustrate:

    My computer (Vista Ultimate x64) has a USB hard disk hooked up to it. On that disk is my Music folder, which the Zune software dumps my CD rips into.

    The other computer (XP Pro) has a 200 GB hard drive set as slave and on it too, there is a Music folder...

    The PCs are connected via a 10/100 CAT 5 cable.

    Basically, I'd like to be able to just put music in one folder (either PC) and then the PC syncs it over to the other one automatically... I looked into Vista's off line files feature, but it doesn't seem to quite cover what I want to do.
