  1. sync OneDrive Photos to myPC

So, I setup my iPhone 16 to upload / sync pictures I take to OneDrive. I was expecting them to end up in the My files / Pictures folder so that they could be accessed via the File Explorer on a PC. But by default and I have not found a way to change this they are placed in OneDrive Photos folder. The only way I have found to access them on a PC is the online OneDrive using Edge. Is there a method to sync that folder to my PC?

    :)

  2. Photos are not syncing to OneDrive

    Hello pleonidas,

Thank you for your accurate response and for trying the steps.

This shows us that the auto-upload works normally, but only for photos that you take after switching the auto-upload on.

Of course, uploading manually 450 photos is completely unpractical so what I would suggest, is to sync your photos to your PC using the Windows Phone app.

Then of course, if you wish to upload them to Onedrive, you should be able to do that more easily from your PC. At least, your photos will be backed up.

    Kind regards,

Can't UNSELECT Desktop from OneDrive syncing

I guess I spoke too soon... It seemed to work, once, but now giving me this error again. I don't know if this is normal for unsyncing Desktop or if something is messed up. This is the error.
sync OneDrive Photos to myPC 400944d1700749998t-cant-unselect-desktop-onedrive-syncing-error.png
I can modify the registry to add the original location to OneDrive (from C:\users\MyPC\Desktop to, C:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive\Desktop), and then i don't see the error. My "Manage Backup" seems normal. I have the option to backup or not. My desktop shows the OneDrive Desktop, and my select or unselect option is shown in the "Manage Backup". However, if I choose to NOT sync the Desktop, it reverts back to the ERROR condition. Is that normal? Is that the only way it works? The other folders don't do this. If I want to sync Documents or Videos, etc, I can toggle on and off and don't see any error. ONLY Desktop shows the error. I do NOT think this is normal because, I have another computer that doesn't behave this way. It allows me to turn sync OFF and ON for desktop, and never shows this error. How do I fix this? I think I know what may have created the problem, I just don't know how to fix it. When I found I could not uncheck the sync option (got an error that said "cannot unsync Desktop"), I just created a Desktop folder on my PC at c:\Users\MyPC\Desktop and deleted and created another at: C:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive\Desktop. I'm not 100% sure that's what caused it, but the problem occurred shortly after. I don't know that this causes any problems. Desktop still exists in both locations. I can manually move files between the two locations. I often have gigabytes of data on my desktop and don't need to sync it all the time. I'd like to be able to turn it on and off. But it doesn't seem possible. Once OFF, I can no longer turn it back on, without going into the registry and putting the pathname back. Also, I don't understand folders I create, with regards to backup. Say I create a folder under OneDrive (called Mike, Or John, or Important). Those folders show up in the Choose Folder dialog, and I can select or unselect. But that is just to make them visible in the navigation pane. They don't show up in the backup window. Does that mean these files aren't backed up? Here is what I was hoping to have: Desktop: Folders saved locally at: C:\Users\MyPC\ OneDrive: Folders like above at: C:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive Something like this: c:\Users\MyPC\ c:\Users\MyPC\Folder 1 c:\Users\MyPC\Folder 2 c:\Users\MyPC\Folder 3 c:\Users\MyPC\Folder 3\Temp c:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive c:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive\Folder 1 c:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive\Folder 2 c:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive\Folder 3 c:\Users\MyPC\OneDrive\Folder 3\Temp Then, by managing ,my backups, I could just occasionally backup any of the folders on my PC, just by turning on and off backup for those folders. But the only ones I seem to have control over, are the Documents, Pictures, Videos, etc). None of the folders I create. Syncing and Backup seems to be kind of misleading. When I think of backup or syncing, I think "extra copies". But it looks like with OneDrive, backup and syncing, only means where one single copy resides. If not syncing, the folder is only on the PC. If syncing, the ONLY copy is on the cloud. Is that right?

  4. sync OneDrive Photos to myPC

    Windows 10 / OneDrive / MyPC

When I set up my new laptop a few weeks ago I didn't notice the "install onedrive as your default drive". Once I realized this had happened I unlinked it and found the explainer to change the Registry Editor to restore MyPC as the default drive. So far so
    good.

But I notice when I select the search bar that one of my files shows up as location OneDrive\File1 whereas everything else is MyPC\File2 etc.

Any idea why this is happening?

I can't find any property of the file that contains OneDrive and it's actually saved in MyPC like everything else. And OneDrive is empty.

Thanks in advance for any pointers here.
