    Sync Settings Troubleshooting


    I have had a desktop PC with Windows 10 on it for years, and I am signed into it with an outlook email. Recently I bought a Surface Go 2 laptop and signed into it with the same outlook email. All of my settings including themes and desktop icons synced onto my new laptop. When I moved these icons to the recycling bin on my laptop, it also removed them from my PC. Obviously this is a problem because, for example, I use my PC for gaming. I have desktop shortcuts on my PC that are for games that I don't need on my laptop.


    After some research I found that there was a way to turn this off under settings>accounts>sync your settings. When attempting to turn off this sync setting option, both of my devices say "Sync is not available for your account. Contact your system administrator." I am labeled as an administrator on my account settings, yet I still can't access these settings.


    To be honest, I don't really care about my sync settings, but I need to fix my computers such that my actions on my laptop does not affect my desktop and vice versa.

    The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

    Sync My Settings Not Syncing

    I had a problem previously related to my sync setting being greyed out. Now i have my 2 pcs logged in with a online Microsoft account, all the sync settings are turned on with both pc's. Still it does not seem to be syncing. Any suggestions guys?

    If that setting is already enabled, then I suggest as the next troubleshooting step might be Mozilla Safe Mode (not to be confused with Windows Safe Mode)):
