    Syncing with large photo files,

I don't want to sync my desktop and laptop all the time. I just want to sync certain files, especially between "my pictures" which automatically goes to photos. There are duplicates with back up and I'm getting really confused . I've tried saying " keep on this computer" but extra photos keep showing up in the cloud and the laptop. I think some of this has to do with the back up setting on the laptop. Has anyone else experienced this? While the syncing is helpful for a workplace environment, it is really confusing for personal computing. What settings would you suggest for my desktop with t

  2. Syncing photos

My computer will no longer sync photos. I followed the steps supplied in the suggested fixes - no luck. The last suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall but my computer doesn't find my phone... instead, it finds a scanning device that I don't have. Any
    suggestions?

    Syncing with large photo files,

Error while syncing photos to the computer

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to get to the root cause of the issue, we will need a few more information from you. Please reply with the following details:

    • Which application are you using to sync the photos?
    • Were you able to sync the photos earlier?

If you are using iTunes to sync the photos to the computer, I suggest you to refer the section
Import to your PC from the article provided by Apple
Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
to import the photos to the computer.

For more information, you can also refer the section Sync your photos manually with iTunes
    from the article
Keep your photos safely stored and up to date on all of your devices
    .

If you are using Photos app to sync the photos, I suggest you to refer the sections
Importing photos from a iPhone and Using the Photos app and iPhone
    from the article
Complete Guide to Importing Your Photos in Windows 10
    created by Andre Da Costa.

If you are trying to import over thousands of photos at a time and receiving the error, then I suggest you to import the photos in
batches of 400-500. As few of our customers were able to fix the issue by importing the photos in batches instead of importing all of them at a time.

You can also try giving the permissions to Photos folder and see if that helps. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + E, to open
      File Explorer
      .
    2. Click on This PC on the left pane.
    3. Right click on the Pictures folder and select
      Properties.
    4. Go to Security tab and click on
      Edit
      .
    5. Click on your name from the list of users and check
      Full Control under Allow.
    6. Click on Apply and OK.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
