  1. Synology NAS Device not visible in Win 10 Version 1809 via File Explorer - Network option

I have just moved to a new PC running Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) Version 1809 built by PC Specialist on 23 Jan 2019.
However, I am encountering a problem with Windows File Explorer in so far as that I cannot see the target folders in my Synology DS918+ NAS under the "Network" Option at the bottom of the Windows File Explorer.
By putting in the IP address of my Synology NAS in the File Explorer Browser bar field, I can then see the NAS and the folders in the NAS. By saving the IP address in "Quick Access" can easily connect to the folders.
Unfortunately, as I cannot see the NAS under "Networks" in File Explorer, I cannot easily use either Syncovery or Macrium Reflect software to backup the required Drives/Folders from my PC to the NAS.
I have used the Win 10 Credentials Manager in Control Panel to ensure that Windows has the correct ID/password to connect to the NAS. I understand that there may be an issue with Devices not showing in Windows 10 File Explorer. Advice from the internet recommends setting some services to Automatic (Delayed Start) and restarting Windows:
    • Function Discovery Provider Host (FDPHost) • Function Discovery Resource Publication (FDResPub) • Network Connections (NetMan) • UPnP Device Host (UPnPHost) • Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRPSvc) • Peer Networking Grouping (P2PSvc) • Peer Networking Identity Manager (P2PIMSvc)
These changes have had no beneficial remedial effect.
If possible, if anyone has already come across this issue, I would welcome advice as to how to solve this problem?
    Many Thanks.

    :)

  2. problems with Synology NAS on Windows 10 1809

Below are my impressions on version 1809 on two different machines.

Yesterday I upgraded to ver.1809 build 17763.292 and installed all updates. All seems to work well except for the connection with my Synology NAS. The disk station is has the latest update and is connected to the same network.

    1. Edge browser dismisses an http command to connect to the disk station, while IE and Firefox work as expected.

    2. Windows explorer cannot find the name \\diskstation in the network, while there is no any problem on Windows 10 ver 1803 and Windows 8.1.

A month ago I updated another computer to ver.1809 and I reverted back to 1803 because Intel graphics settings would not work, as well as the free version of SoftPerfect RAM disk ver. 3.4.8.

I want to keep the new version 1809, but how can I solve the connection with the NAS?

    NAS not visible

I am at a loss to understand why my NAS should be visible from Windows 7 machines and some Windows 10 machines but not from ALL Win 10 machines. I open file explorer and click on Network. It goes and searches for responses from devices. The other machines both real and virtual that are switched on show up but the NAS which is switched on and ready does not. If I do this from any of my Win 7 machines or my real Windows 10 machine the NAS shows up.
Can anyone suggest where I might look to see why it is not appearing?

I can ping the NAS from the Win10 machine which is not showing the NAS successfully.

Synology NAS Device not visible in Win 10 Version 1809 via File Explorer - Network option

Windows 10 Explorer cannot find my NAS

I have a Synology 713+ on my network that is Windows 8.1 Explorer can find under the network tab. When my copy of Windows 10 upgraded to the November update, the Synology NAS was no longer visible. If I type the address of the NAS //xxx.xxx.x.xxx into
the address bar then the NAS is available. Technical support for Synology feels the problem is with Windows 10 local DNS name resolution. I have changed the adapter settings In TCP/IPv4 to allow WINS to use NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and this has not resolved the
issue. Does anyone have any other ideas how to configure Windows 10 to resolve the name of my NAS?
