  1. sys ISO where is it

I was on win 7: I have now somehow upgraded it to win 10 tp with win 7 rollback. I can not find how to create a sys iso in win 10.
can I roll back to win 7 and start again with duel boot as I had before?.
win 7 on original drive and win 10 on the other internal drive?.

I have two internal 500gb drives and 1 usb 500gb with my win 7 system ISO on it.
    Silly me Topper.

    :)

  2. Restore Windows 7

How to restore windows 7 after windows 10 failed repeatedly? The automatized way crashed the computer and it won't repair either. Now I need a ISO to restore the op sys but that task is crazy tough to find. Microsoft should have a link for us returning to
W7 with these problems. Where to get W7 ISO?

  3. Omnia 'mac address' where is it, what is it ?

    Kennosen,

I was just saying that I do not have the Omnia and the steps outlined by mrussell does not apply to my device. The application I posted above also lets you determine the mac address of your device.

Don't know if you can roll back to win 7 without a clean install or re image from a back up . Look in the bootable W10 install media or W10 recovery settings for something to point you to that option ? If you did an in place upgrade (overwrite) somehow there should be an old windows folder with your win 7 stuff intact (mostly ☺/ ) in there if your W10 install is still intact .

AFAIK you cant create back up syst image media in W 10 preview at this time . I had to re install (custom) from ISO Installer bootable DVD .(after an unforeseen and unusual mishap. ) My win 7 parition remained un disturbed . IOW don't depend on W10 for back up/restore/repair if it blows up just be prepared to (clean ) re install .

    Restore/repair /refresh /recovery wouldn't work right at that time (last wk. ).

I have (most of my applications and media )on a Win 7 drive partition on the same hdd and have shortcuts (in W10) to the compatable stuff that otherwise didn't require being installed in the W10 parition or drive .

I would put W7 on one of the internal drives and W10 on the other hdd (or a hdd partitcian) and use the usb drive for back up or storage .

I can run a lot of stuff and access the library's from the W7 partition in W10 with W7 desktop and library shortcuts I copied to W10 you have to try each app you want to (run from win 7 and use in win 10 ) and see if it runs like that first ,media no problems with VLC for video or Foobar 2000 installed on the 10 partition or you can use the embedded WMP for both .

So far W10 is running fine . I'm using it for the daily driver now but have W7 intact also just in case (for now )

My Installed win 10 applications and data are backed up on a storage drive keeping in mind W10 Technical Preview is a late beta despite what they call it ☺/

I store any media I get now in the W7 library's as before and run it from there in Win 10.
I made a 100GB partition on a 1TB win 7 hdd to install/ run W10 it's more than adequate (with some extra room ) and just as fast *the way I'm using it* ofc I can always re size the partitions on the fly if the need arises .

When Win 10 final comes out each OS will have their own hdd with 10 likely being on an SSD and both ofc accessing metal storage drives until and if I ever decide to delete the win 7 OS partitions altogether . (4 PC's here ) only my daily driver is running 10 for now ☺

Just use the W10 installation media and point a custom install to wherever W10 was/is before.
it will format /overwrite and clean install the previous W10 installation and enable the boot loader /splash screen if it see's another installed OS drive (or drive partition ) on that PC .

YES that is more or less how it was.The roll back did not work, I have now reinstalled win 7 from my usb iso and I am going to clean install win 10 on my other internal drive unplugging the C: drive when I do so(this what i did when trying the first builds) I then made clean install iso`s from the ESD for next builds.
Thanks for the reply(regarding win sys iso creation).
Will post back Later after latest build installed.

  6. Sounds like you have a plan good luck . Maybe when win 7 sees the 10 drive and OS install it might give you a dual boot option at Post if it's the default boot dr. ....... or maybe the win 10 splash screen /boot loader will re appear ? let us know what happens .

now on a serious note ,i'm duel booting win8 and win10, 2 harddrives ,and yes remove other drives when installing win10, for me I can choose what os to boot to by changing boot order in the bios ,or I can hit the f12 key and choose boot to hardrive ,and I then get option to choose either drive ,good luck ,happy computing

I have now sorted the problems. one of my Hard drives was having gear box problems(crunching and squeaking) *SadThis was a few days ago, so i thought i would re-arrange and tidy up my system. somewhere in all the confusion I decided to do an upgrade to see if i could get back to basics and fined which HDD was causing the noise. I now had win 7 upgraded to win 10 (with a roll back option).WHAT I wanted to do was do a backup SYS ISO from win 10, I have now found out you cannot do that yet.
I have isolated the drive and "HDD scanner" seems to have repaired it.
NOW my system is : WIN 7 1st internal 500Gb HDD : WIN 10 first partition on secondary internal HDD (250Gb) the other half i use for my utils and apps. And my 500Gb usb drive still has my latest stand alone WIN 7 BACKUP SYS ISO (I HAD TO USE THIS AS THE ROLL BACK OPTION IN WIN 10 UPGRADE DOE`S NOT WORK YET).
My system is now back to where i want it :*Smile
I do know about your boot options (I used them with WIN 95 and NT4 and onwards) I am now trusting the MBR in the end i have back ups and can revert to the other bios option any way.
Sorry if i have been Grumpy*Zip all.
    thanks A Very tired Topper.
Ps did the latest build cure the keyboard problems?*Wink
