Windows 10: System already set up a year ago- Want to Create new instance of Recovery Drive (D Drive)...

I need some help. I am not sure what happened to my PC, but my recovery drive space doubled in September- I must have done something to cause it to double, but I don't know what I did exactly.


I am cleaning up my disc space- etc, and I want to delete the old Recovery instance/folder and create a new instance/folder.



What is the proper way to do this using Windows 10 functions (So I don't mess it up)? I tried to find a posting that would address this- but the postings I found were all about creating an INITIAL recovery drive instance, not removing old and replacing with new.


Please help me out here

Not enough space on Recovery (D drive.

Please help me with the following:

1. What is the make and model number of your Computer?
   

Please note that recovery "D" is a partition on the hard drive which contains the image of the Operating system. You can use it to restore the computer back to factory settings. You should not attempt to store files in it.
If you have any data saved on the D drive, I would suggest you to move it to an external drive and to free up some space, you can follow the steps provided in the article:

Creating a recovery drive

A recovery drive can help you troubleshoot and fix problems with your PC, even if it won't start. To create one, all you need is a USB drive.

• From the taskbar, search for Create a recovery drive then select it. You might be asked to enter an admin password or confirm your choice.
• When the tool opens, make sure Back up system files to the recovery drive is selected, then select
  Next.
• Connect a USB drive to your PC, select it, then select Next > Create. A lot of files need to be copied to the recovery drive, so this might take a while.
• When it's finished, you might see a Delete the recovery partition from your PC link on the final screen. If you want to free up drive space on your PC, select the link, then select
  Delete. If not, select Finish.

If you have done the same steps above and the rest of your file is still not showing.

• Which drive are you referring to?
• Can you send us a screenshot of what you are seeing?
• Besides creating a recovery drive, have you done any other changes on your computer?
• What is the make and model of your USB hard drive device?
• Have you tried plugging it on another port?
• What is the current version and build number of your Windows 10 Computer? To know these details, follow the steps below:
  • Select the Start button.
  • Type About your PC.
  • Press Enter to find out the version and build number of your Windows 10 PC.
