Windows 10: System and compressed memory high disk usage

Here are some screenshots sorted by CPU and disk. I feel like whenever I check on the task manager when the system moves into the slow state, the CPU is never very high. Definitely not the 100% that the other users have reported in regards to the system and compressed memory. Killer Network and Super Charger came with the MSI update service for my computer. Not sure if the killer network needs to be running at all times. I just leave it on since it was installed with my drivers I believe. Super charger is for the mobile device USB charging.

 

Hi, nothing there stands out.. except the overall CPU use if this is meant to be idle.

This is what I'd be much happier with:

 

Killer network has been known to cause v. high memory usage. You could remove it if you find a problem with memory...

Closed some of my background game clients like Battle.net and it mirrors what you posted. 1-2% idle. 15% memory usage as well.

 

Once dalchina mentioned that Killer Network was an odd service, I went ahead and uninstalled it and installed the standalone driver. Maybe this will help my computer in some way.

 

Good you've reduced the idle CPU use.

Bear in mind system and compressed memory problems are not easy to resolve. I hope by now you will have read some of the threads here.

When the problem occurs again, I hope you will try the upgrade first, rather than fix an old build. Good luck!

 

Yes, I've been reading through a lot of the threads hoping to find a fix. Like you said, it's best to just see what happens on the new build so I won't try fixing an old build. For now, I'm going to hold off and wait for the anniversary update to become a bit more stable. I read some articles saying that there are some problems. Luckily, my issue can be resolved with a simple restart which is just a minor inconvenience in the big picture. If issues persist, I'll take a closer look under the hood and try to get more information so that a potential fix can be found (once I've updated).

Well, problem came back today. This time I tried to look at the resource monitor while attempting to watch a video and couldn't make any sense of what was going on. Took some screenshots of the task manager and resource monitor. Right now I'm in the process of updating my computer to see if that helps. If anyone has some advice based on my screenshots then that would be amazing.

Also, it's worth noting that the 100% disk usage screenshot from the task manager is when the video is NOT being played.

 

I can't really see anything, sorry. The disk 2 is active 100% of the time but actual I/O is minimal. The only files accessed are G:\$LogFile (write) and G:\Videos\McCree (read) but these are not at the same time as the task manager screen shot I guess and look normal anyway. Perhaps sort Resource monitor by file in case there something else not in the screen prints?

Yeah, it was really hard to take screenshots since the disk was operating at 100% so the times are off. I have seen that thread actually and turning off the notifications were my first step since it seems like such an easy fix. No luck however with that suggestion. I just updated to anniversary and disabled superfetch. The two task manager screenshots were taken at nearly the same time. Shows 33% disk and 100% on the other screen which I'm guessing is because I have 3 drives.

If this error occurs again, should I screenshot the processes under G:? I wasn't sure how to sort it so I sorted by the processes that were using the most. The McCree video is what I use to test the HDD read speed which is why it's there.

 

Yeah, I think concentrating on G (and H) is the way forward - the others look fine. I'm at a loss what to suggest though.

 

Alright I'll do this next time if it happens (hopefully not). Yup, I have no idea what to do anymore. Tried so many fixes and can't come up with any good results. If anything I'll try a reinstall, replace the drive, or get someone to look at the computer.

 

This isn't a problem with system and compressed memory. Suggest you check your pagefile settings and page fault stats.

You could do some disk checks including throughput capacity.

 

This is what I have it set to now. Not really sure what it should be at. I set it back to automatic after I found out that having it on manual can be an issue with system and compressed memory. Originally it was turned off which may have been caused by SSD settings in Samsung Magician? I'm not sure, but I didn't set it to manual before that. Just for clarification, C: is SSD1 E: and F: is SSD2 and G: H: is the regular HDD that's been having issues.





Not quite sure how to test page fault or throughput? I ran some disk checks before and no errors were returned, but that was probably different from what you are mentioning..
