Windows 10: System and Reserve space up to 97.8 GB. Was only 52 GB. How get disk space back?

Diskspace usage for older computer only 52GB. It was last updated in July of 2023. That was the usage of my new computer for Windows 10 version 22H2. Now the usage is 149GB. 97.8 GB are System and Reserve space. This has to be a bug in the software updates. Is Windows going to fix it?

Missing over 600 GB of free unused disk space!

I have an HP 250 G2 Notebook. When installing Windows 7 the setup menu showed me a list of disks and partitions and asked, "Where do you want to install Windows?" There was a 'Disk 0' with 298 GB of space and a 'Disk 1' with over 600 GB of space. I thought
I was deleting a partition and selected 'Disk 1' and clicked the 'Delete' button in the menu below the list of storage space drives. I thought this would result in seeing one drive with about 931 GB of space (as listed in the product specifications on the
HP website). Instead the 'Disk 1' and its space COMPLETELY disappeared. I cannot get that 600 GB of space to appear again. When viewing drives in the Windows Explorer it only shows 298 GB of space. When going to the disk manager, it only shows 298 GB of space.
I tried re-formatting the machine and reinstalling Windows. Still only shows 298 GB of space. I tried using the command prompt as an administrator and running "chkdsk". Still only shows 298 GB of space. I tried using "diskpart" still only shows 298GB of space.
I installed several "expert" applications that are designed to view partitions and recover disk space. Still only shows 298 GB of space. Beginning to loose hope. How did I loose 2/3 of my disk space and how do I get it back?

Hi,

Windows create a special partition when installed on a new disk. This is usually under the name System Reserved. This partition contains these two important things:

• Boot Manager and Boot Configuration Data
• Startup files used for BitLocker Drive Encryption

These two should not be deleted as it is essential for booting and Bitlocker drive encryption. Regarding Windows upgrade, it will not take the allotted space for the System Reserved Partition. It will just take the remaining space outside of it. If you have
30 GB of space, and 13.5 GB is for the System Reserved, then whatever amount of space is remaining on the C drive less than all the installed apps and stored files, then that's what the Windows upgrade will take.

Missing about 180 GB disk space on windows 10

This is my system:

I can boot into either windows 7, or into another disk where there is windows 7 updated to windows 10.

Both of these disks are SSD. I have also another drive in the system that is mechanical drive 1 TB. Both System

drives are 254 GB.

After the recent Win 10 update, the windows 10 system started backing up my 1TB drive. I have caught it

when there was about 10 GB left on windows 10, 254 GB drive. I have set up windows 10 for no backup.

I did find the folder where the backup was kept and deleted it. I did get the space back.

But next day, windows started again decreasing my disk space. This time, there is no easy way to find out

where the space is. When I added up all disk folders, I am getting about 70 GB.

I have tried cleanup manager without any result. Deleted all restore points and set up reserved space to only 3%,

again with no result. I would really like to know what happened and how to recover the lost space.

When I boot into windows 7, it also shows the disk containing win 10 as having only 10 GB space left.
