Windows 10: System cannot find the path error message when scanning photo

I'm scanning photos with Panasonic's Image Capture Plus 1.4.0.15, using a Panasonic KV-S2046C scanner. I switched the output format from JP2 to JPEG, and after that scanning sometimes halts after the scanner runs a photo through, and then a popup appears saying "System Error! Scan is stopped. The system cannot find the path specified." There's nothing wrong with the filesystem or path either to the work folder or to the output folder, and both still have lots of free space.

ERROR 53 message

Hello,

Run-time Error 53 indicates that there is a missing Windows component. A program you're trying to use will display that error message if the program is attempting to use a dynamic link library, or DLL, file that has been deleted or was never installed properly.

We would like to know some information:

• Have you done any changes on your computer prior to the issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

For initial troubleshooting steps, we suggest that you try to run
System File Checker. It will scan for corrupted files and restore it.

If that didn't work, we suggest that you try to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Scanning photos

This issue might be caused by a device driver issue. To properly isolate the issue, we'll be needing additional information:

• Were there any error messages when you tried to scan your photos?
• Are your device drivers updated?
• Have you tried using another device to scan photos?
• Did you made any changes, like Windows update, prior to the issue?

  Where exactly did you try to save the photos?

  Are you getting any error message? If yes, what is the exact error message along with the error code?

  When you say “I have tried everything” what do you mean by this? What all troubleshooting steps have you performed?
  

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

If the issue still persists, there could be some third party links or software’s available but Microsoft does not recommend that.
