System changes my mic volume whenever I change my audio output device

I often switch between my headset and my monitor speakers depending on what I am doing on my PC. About 2 months ago give or take my friends started mentioning that my mic volume was very quiet. After a lot of testing, I determined that it will stay at the set volume until such time that I change my output device. I have the settings opened on my monitor with the mic volume slider at 100, then I click the speaker in the bottom right of my screen and change from my headset to my monitor speakers and the slider goes down to 28. Its always 28 for whatever reason. And then I have to turn it back

    :)

System changes my mic volume whenever I change my audio output device

I often switch between my headset and my monitor speakers depending on what I am doing on my PC. About 2 months ago (give or take) my friends started mentioning that my mic volume was very quiet.

And then I have to turn it back up, where it will stay until I switch output again.

I have already tried unchecking the "Allow apps to take exclusive control of this device" box on all speakers and the microphone. I have also tried testing different things with apps that use the mic, which would be Discord and Microsoft Teams. I only use Teams on the browser, so I do not believe that should cause a system issue. As for Discord, it does not seem any settings within the app are able to stop this from happening.

As for my system, I am running a custom built device with Windows 10. The OS is fully updated.

  3. No Audio Output Device is Installed

    Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

    1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

    2. Select "playback devices".

    3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

    5. Save the changes.

    Let us know the result.

System changes my mic volume whenever I change my audio output device

I been having trouble with the volume in the mic settings. I tried all I know please help.

This is the three devices that are under the "Sounds, video, and game controllers" tab:

    • AMD High Definition Audio Device
    • CyberLink Webcam Virtual Drivers
    • Realtek High Definition Audio
Under the "Audio input and output" tab:

    • Mic in at front panel (black) (Realtek High Definition Audio)
    • Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)
    • Realtek HD Output 2nd output (Realtek High Definition Audio)
    • Speaker/HD (Realtek High Definition Audio)
I use microphone headset to talk to people while playing an online game. The program I use is "Ventrilo". I tried the steps you posted and the mic volume is still muting automatically.
