Windows 10: system drive in optimise drivers always stays at 4%

Hi guys!
My computer was running fine until January but suddenly I open optimisation tool to check if everything is all right but i find out that it stays on 4% whenever I open the optimisation tool and when I click on analyse then it says 9% fragmented but when I click on optimise it stays at 4%. I also had ISO file problem but i solved that and now today, I opened optimise tool and it now shows 9%. If any of you have any idea about this then please share!*Huh

system hard disk shows 100% defragmented

Under Windows administration tools/defrag and optimise drives, my system hard disk shows it needs optimisation as it is 100% fragmented. But clicking on system drive does not resolve the problem (it stays 100% fragmented)

Can anyone assist ?

Thanks for the suggestion. but I have got one more problem which I want to discuss. My system drive (not local disk:C) is fragmented 57% and when I try to optimise it then it stays at the same rate apparently! when I installed windows 10 then it fragmented
like 8% and by day it increased and then I say that it went to 57% and my local disk is also fragmented to 5%. However, I have tried defragmenting it with different software(smart defrag) but with no luck it stays at the same when I analyse it through the
default defragment and optimise app(Defrag and optimise drives).

Do you happen to have a very large file (possible large backup/ disk image etc.) located on that hard drive. Sometimes low levels of installed and available memory coupled with an attempt to defrag a very large file can cause extraordinary slowdowns.

 

No! nothing like that. it was just ordinary as other laptops.

 

One option that might be worth trying. Temporarily install a different defragmentation program (Auslogics DiskDefrag Free) and defragment that drive. If and after that works the windows optimize function should function without an issue.

 

Didn't work! still stays at 6% fragmented in optimise drivers app.

 

I have used Download Defraggler for free | Defrag SSD and HDD drives on my HDD systems and it has a feature that after you do an Analyze it has a choice to list the files and the number of fragments. It will also let you select individual files that you want to defrag.

Yah! but I think it's nothing to do with HDD because it's another drive(System Drive)which is fragmented. However I am not sure!

 

HDD is a generic name for a mechanical drives as opposed to the newer SSD's. Unless you have a SSD your System drive will be a HDD and you can look at ALL your drives if you wish.

It didn't work!! when I tried to defrag it, it defraged all the files but again when I analyse it just after the de fragmentation process then it again says fragmented 1% and when I tried to defrag individual files which were listed then after 80% it says "defrag aborted". any suggestions????

 

Some files can not be defragged as they are system files. Can you take a snapshop and post a picture of file list that are fragmented?

I bet it's the Master File Table (MFT) that is fragmented. Unfortunately Windows defragmenting API doesn't allow to touch the MFT. On the other hand, it's quite normal and nothing to worry about.

To check it. Open a cmd prompt with admin rights and type: defrag -a -v c:

 

After running the command, I got this result:



In there it says "it is recommended that you defragment this volume"
Any solutions????​
