  1. System Files are across 2 drives - how do I make any System Image files to only be on C drive?

Hello, Running Windows 11 Pro and I'm trying to make both a system image and backup drive. This is both a gaming and film editing/coloring workstation.C: Disk is my boot drive with windows, of courseF: Disk has my games on it, and for some reason, it shows up as a default System drive when I try to create a backup, so I am unable to uncheck it.For some reason when I try to create a backup or a system image, Windows tells me that I'll have to backup the entire C and F drives, instead of just the C drive. How can I make sure that C drive is the ONLY System drive?

    :)

  2. System Paging File Help

I read somewhere that if you have two hard drives, you can set the system managed Page file to the second disk.... it's suppose to be better performance if drive c is reading or writing.

My question.... do i select no paging file for drive c since drive e is now the drive i want the paging file on?

  3. Recovery drive system image backup

    Hi Sean,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

    1. Did you choose the recovery drive to be in the C: drive?

    2. When you say D drive, are you referring to other personal files?

A system image is an exact copy of a drive. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run(C: drive where the operating system is installed). It also includes Windows and your system settings, programs, and files. If the recovery
drive is in a different drive (for eg. D drive), when you restore using the system image, everything else will be deleted except the files and settings which are included in the C: drive. If the D drive contains your personal files and data, I would suggest
you to create the system image and also create a backup of the D drive and other drive in order to restore your personal files.

    Hope this answers your query.

If you have any Windows related queries in the future, let us know. We will be glad to help.

System Files are across 2 drives - how do I make any System Image files to only be on C drive?

page/swap file size and location for 2-3 hard drives

Most recommend putting the page file on a seperate hard drive from Windows. So that one hard drive is reading and another hard drive is writting.

MS recommends page file sizes of a Min 1.5X to a Max 3X system RAM. But they also say to have a page file on your OS drive for errors. That Windows will choose the Page file on the drive that Windows is not on.

    So my setups currently are:

    With 2 hard drives...
    --Windows/games/programs on 1st hard drive
--Page File on 2nd hard drive (2 times the size of system ram@2gb, so 2048X2=4096 page file size)

    With 3 hard drives...
    --Windows on 1st hard drive
    --Games/programs on 2nd hard drive
--Page file on 3rd hard drive (2 times the size of system ram@2gb, so 2048X2=4096mb page file size)

    How are these configurations?

Does the maximum page/swap file size of 3X system ram apply to a single hard drive or all hard drives with swap files on the system total.

Ie. can i put from example above a swap file on my system drive 4096mb and another page file on other drives of 4096mb each for a total of 2 page files or 4096X2 that is greater than the 3x system ram??

    thanks
