Windows 10: System gives freezes on random moments.

Hello community,

I have a problem with my system for quite a while now. Reïnstalling windows didn't work so maybe any of you have some ideas i could try next.

Either im playing games or just watching something on youtube my pc can randomly "freeze" i can use my mouse/cursor but video's just get stuck games get stuck i can alt tab once and after that i also get stuck on that screen. (while still being able to move my mouse etc.) When im on sites like twitch the chat will still work for me but the video/gameplay i watch gets stuck. Neither can i use ctrl+alt+del or press on the windows button.

The only way to get control again is through a hard reset.

(this happens on random times sometimes i will not have problems for a couple days and unlike today it happend 3 times.)

Any thoughts or ideas why this could be happening?

Random freezes or shut downs

Completely random freezing/shutdowns on a system with no recent hardware changes, and hard drive, memory, and PSU fine, usually means a software issue (file corruption or malicious software). I suggest following DavidV's recommendations.

Hrrmmmm... but wouldnt formatting and reinstalling windows fix the issue since the virus/trojan/spyware isnt on the system any longer?

@Maban - does GPU-Z fail the same way for you the way it does for me? I.e. total system freeze/lockup, requiring a hard reset?

@W1zzard - I will try the suggested steps later today, as I am not near that PC at the moment.
