  1. System Image Recovery - signing in not possible

    Hi Community,

I recently tried to do a System Image Recovery from a saved system Image I store on an external drive.

I got to the point where the computer re-boots into the Recovery Environment.

    > re-start + Shift (or from settings-restart) > trouble shoot > advanced options > system image recovery

(all on a blue screen background - no taskbar etc visible)

At this point the computer re-boots and opens into the actual system image recovery environment.

First window shows my name (administrator) - I click on it

Now I see my account and are asked to type in my account password (Microsoft account password)

Up to this point everything worked as described many times in various instructions and tutorials.

Now the trouble starts: I cannot type into the password box - the cursor (not the mouse cursor) where the first letter should be is NOT blinking.

I try every key on the keyboard - no reaction!

(Outside Of The Recovery Window/Environment The Keyboard Is Working Fine)!!!

(I tried a different keyboard anyways - same)

I had chats with support / tech people already/second level - nobody had a solution.

I solved the initial problem why I wanted to revert to a system image otherwise with a complete reset … however, I want to be able to

    use the system image feature.

    Any suggestions

Please try the procedure - it's no problem to back out of the system image recovery window back to normal

And again - since this was MANY times misunderstood by various techs:

It's not that I didn't know my password

It's not the keyboard - keyboard works otherwise fine - is illuminated as usual

the part where the source of the system backup is recognised comes after signing in - and the ext. drive was attached

After a full reset (everything) of Win10 - it still does it

    Thanks

    :)

    System Image Recovery Hangs

I discovered that if I wait until the step "Advanced Options" to connect the external drive containing the System Image, and then click on "System Image Recovery", the recovery proceeds normally.

If I connect the external drive before starting the recovery process, that is, before clicking on "Shift" and "Restart", the system hangs when I get to the "System Image Recovery" step.
