  2. Ram leak for all games

I was meaning go back to Windows 10. I have 64gb of ram the games do not lag at any point they just crash do to an overload of ram. I can watch the ram go up as the games stay open and just eventually they crash it is definitely a ram leak issue that needs resolved. I tested my ram already and it had no issues.

Problem with the system RAM memory

    - You forgot to upload a Speccy report that Gerry requested.

"i've tried almost everything ...you go ahed , just ask me and i'll say if I did try it or not ..."

When you don't list everything you have tried you risk reading the same suggestions again.

    Wasting your time and ours.

"GTX 960 NVIDIA Grafic card with 200W of power supply"

You taking a big risk with this power supply. If games are crashing, the machine is randomly rebooting,

or you are getting TDR errors or BSOD when the system is under a full gaming load the psu may

be struggling to deliver consistent voltage. An overloaded psu can ruin components.

    - Nvidia recommends a 400W power supply (approximately 30 amps on the +12V rail ) with a GTX960 .

Because of the extended periods that psu's are put under load when gaming, it is safer to have a

fair bit of 'headroom' over what the systems base requirements are.

    - Your image shows just under 3.4GB in use at the time you did the screen capture, and all of your RAM

seems to be accounted for. There is no apparent issue with the 8GB RAM being recognised.

"but that isn't normal because I have 8 GB stick"

    - There is no 'normal' . Games use the amount of system RAM that is determined by the level of

selected graphics settings and how well the games engine is optimised.

    - Note too that if you have only one 8GB RAM stick your RAM will not be as efficient as if you run 2x4GB

sticks because it will run in single channel mode.

    - [ EDIT: revised some numbers below ]

Which GTA version are you playing ? GTA-SA, including the RAM in use for the rest of the system

    (idle @ 2.4 -2.6 GB + ), will use about 3GB system RAM total.

    - I don't know how much system RAM GTA V can use but if you are playing GTA V and you are using a

2GB model GTX960 the low memory message could be due to you using up all of the 2GB VRAM ,

by using too high graphics settings in the game.

This can crash games, but will normally show in lag or stutter due to fps drops or fluctuations.

My best example of a RAM hungry game is Watchdogs.

On all max settings this game uses 3875MB VRAM (w/ a GTX980 4GB), and a bit over 5GB system RAM

(including the system). I have a couple of other games that go a bit over 4GB, but the majority

don't even approach 4 GB system RAM use.

[ EDIT: GTA 4, which was a poorly optimised PC port, can also use up to 5.0 GB system RAM

and 1.6 GB VRAM at max settings ].

System keeps crashing while gaming its pointing to the ram should I get new ram

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

    Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

    • I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
    • physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it
Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

    Thanks
