Windows 10: System recovery how?

Ok, so I've been seeing Win10 news updates and I've grown a few questions.


1) Does it matter if I set full system recovery/backup media on a USB flash drive or USB drive?

I ask because honestly I didn't know there was different USB types and I saw somewhere that solid state was recommended for a USB. (I ask in particular in hopes to make a backup of Win10 with my next laptop purchase).


2) I think I read that Win10 in the next update will require more space to be stored. Up to 32gb and a foreshadow of 64gb in the future after this update, but I already bought color coded 32gb USB sticks in preparation for my next laptop purchase.


So what's the exact storage amount and USB type that I should be buying?
