Windows 10: System Recovery "The system image is on a hard disk...."

Hi,


I have a laptop with a SSD. I made two logical partition C and D on a SSD, so I installed Win 10 on the C logical disk and made a backup image on the D logical disk. In win 7, I can restore my back-up image on another logical disk, but I tried to recover in Win 10. I got the message "The system image is on a hard disk, but windows need to format...." and I have to stop this process.


how can i solve this issue?

System Image Recovery/WIndows 10 Recovery Disk

Awesome! Thank you for the quick response. I just have a quick follow up question. Will creating a bootable Windows OS recovery disk on the same external HDD as my System Image Recovery interfere at all with accessing the System Image while attempting to
install it onto the new SSD? And is it even necessary to even use a Recovery Disc if I am recovering from a System Image?

I just logged in to Microsoft.com and saw that my laptop is indeed listed under devices.

 

Windows 10 system image recovery can't find system image

I am trying to restore my laptop using a system image that I made on my external hard disk but system image recovery can't find system image. The same system image could be found when i restored my windows earlier on but after resetting windows 10 using
the options in the settings, system image recovery couldn't find the system image stored in my hard disk. When I boot into windows and attach my hard disk to my laptop, the files were all there. What should I do to make system image recovery find my system
image?
