Windows 10: System Restore in WIN10 keeps losing retsore points

How do I control System Restore in WIN10? System Restore use to be a very good tool years ago for computer repair and support, but now isn't very useful. I have set aside a sizable amount of space for restore points but they keep disappearing without my intervention. How do I set it up so I can control when restore points are removed. For example, I was away for a couple of weeks and came back to some more Microsoft Tuesday Update issues. I looked at system restore a few days ago and there were 3-4 points including one for Feb 4th. Then today there is just one from August of 2023 and the sh

Losing restore points


Have you already ruled out that you are losing restore points because each new one would exceed the limit you've allocated for restore point storage? See Step 8 in Option 1 here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3...dows-10-a.html

 

win10 restore point failure

My win10 system won't boot after a restore point failure. What steps other than booting into safe mode? If I do a reset, will win10 be restored and my apps and data be ok?

Thanks for replying.

I know system restore is not for backup. It's to fix a change in the system.

My system will not keep any system restore points.

All system restore points I create are deleted within an hour,

so it's virtually useless for me.

This seems to be an unsolvable problem.

My pc vendor, Dell, has given up. As a minor point, I have an older Dell, and system restore still l works on that.

I've looked on the Net and have tried just about everything to fix this.

If anyone has a solution I'd appreciate it.

I already reinstalled the OS and started over once, which is all my vendor can suggest now.

I'd do it again if someone could tell me it would work.

I'm not sure if asking Microsoft support would help.
