  1. System restore partition

    I'm going to delete the default partition table on an old Surface Pro see first image.Now, there are six partitions and the last one /dev/sda6 should be the one to save if I want to restore factory settings see second image.Link to images: https://imgur.com/a/vjfTZdLI can figure out, but I've never tested it, that if I restore the recovery image in a bootable partition the script CreatePartitions-UEFI.cmd will start automatically and the OS will be reinstalled from the file install.wim that should be similar to an ISO image.Can anyone confirm if I'm right or wron

    :)

  2. Windows 10 System Image restore did not restore D partition

    Yes, there is a way to create a partition with unused space and copy the image from the backup. Windows Operating system is our expertise so regarding about the steps, we suggest contacting your OEM about the backup and restore process to get the best
    assistance.

    Let us know if you have other questions.

    System restore partition

    Move System Restore Partition to different drive

    In case it's helpful to anyone in future, I did resolve this, with a lot more effort than I had hoped to spend! The basic process was:

    • Decrypt C: drive;
    • Shrink C: partition by 500mb at beginning of drive;
    • Copy System Restore Partition into unallocated space (I used MiniTool Partition Wizard for this). Mark it as active;
    • Use EasyBCD to ensure it is set up to boot into the OS, and restart to test;
    • Delete System Restore Partition on HDD, and expand the remaining partition to fill the unallocated space;
    • Run Windows 10 installer from within Windows, 'upgrading' the OS, but keeping programs and files - this will repair the manually created System Restore Partition properly;
    • Re-encrypt with Bitlocker.
    Hope it's helpful! Long and the short of it is: try and think of these things before you start...
