Windows 10: System Restore? Recovery Key Fail

I received a message on my Asus laptop to “enter the recovery key to get going again.” I entered the exact recovery key for the correct device from my Microsoft account, but I received a message that read, “Failed to unlock with this recovery key.” Repeated. Same error. What next?

To address your concern, we suggest that you try to undo the restore or pick another restore point.

Please follow these steps to access system restore:

• Right-click (or press and hold) the Start button, and then select Control Panel.
  
• Search Control Panel for Recovery.
  
• Select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.

Failed to complete System Restore

The error code 0x80070005 may indicate a few things that are causing System Restore Failure. It could be corrupted system files, conflict with other programs such as Anti-virus protection, and etc. As a first troubleshooting step, we suggest
that you perform System restore in Safe Mode. Kindly refer to this link for more information and steps.

Another step that I can suggest is Clean Boot, if the above step fails.

  In login screen at the bottom right corner select
  restart the system by press and hold Shift key.

  Under choose an option select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select advanced option.
  
• 
  Select System restore and check if it helps.
