Windows 10: System Restore taking a long time

I am trying to use system restore but the screen has said that it is restoring the system for a very long time. My old windows XP computer seemed to do it very quickly. Do I just wait ? Would turning the computer off cause problems ?

Performing System Restore depends upon individuals system files and data, also depends on the earlier point you are restoring the operating system to.

It is to inform that you cannot stop the process of System Restore once started as it may leads to lose of data or access to the operating system.

Do not worry with this issue, wait till the process completes and check with the status of this issue.

I am restoring through boot time recovery.(advance repair option).. It displays system restore restoring files from many hours ... Please help me

 

Further to my post, the lock screen has at last appeared. I shall now see if it has done what it should.
